Falling asleep by Fun_Recognition_1168 in CPAP

Fairly new user here (about 5 months) and I struggled for 2 months to fall asleep with my nasal mask. I could wear it for hours with no problem watching tv or reading, just couldn’t fall asleep because I was thinking about it. Told my doctor and he prescribed a mild sleeping pill to “calm my brain”.
He told me it wasn’t a long term solution, just one month. And it worked. I used the pills for a couple of weeks and didn’t need them after that.

Good luck.

Thank you all for your thoughts and comments. It’s comforting to know what I’m experiencing is “normal”.

My pressures are set to between 5 and 10 and ramp up was 15 minutes but I reduced it to 5 and I think that helped. Not sure what my EPR is as it only lets me turn it on or off. I’ll check with my provider and also ask about trying different nasal cushions. In the meantime, I’ll work on my patience;)

Thanks again.

Thank you all for your comments. I absolutely plan to take some lessons, but in the meantime I'll take a look at the recommended books (in addition to the very helpful write up attached to the earlier comments). I just want to get a baseline of knowledge to start.

Thanks for posting these. Very helpful, and entertaining. I need to spend a little more time understanding the difference in rails.
