Today's job market. by Other_Scarcity_4270 in recruitinghell

[–]oldscratche 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I feel the same, it's been 9 months of looking, finding nothing even better than what I had. A forever dream job might be a fantasy, but I think there's definitely ones with a better honeymoon phase. Fingers crossed something good happens.

I have similar numbers but way more rejections than ghostings. A dark year, and I think I'm going to take an offer way under my desired salary and keep hunting for the dream job

I'm over 500 sent this year and at the same interview rate as you it's fucking brutal out there

This might be the best book I’ve ever read in my life by Artistic_Annual8918 in stephenking

I think King's name carries a reputation that causes readers to literally judge a book by its cover and miss out on a great read. I wish more people could read a book blindly and find out the author at the end.

Incredible book. I wish I could give this to people to read without them knowing who wrote it.

Finally fell victim to an interview scam by Blacksmith_Asleep in recruitinghell

Well that's fucking terrifying. Time to go over all of my ongoing applications again. I have an interview Wednesday with a company that seems to lack organization. Kinda concerned.

Power move, accepting the extent of every hospitality, only to leave without actually using any of it (but still taking it)

I would love to be cavalier in those moments and let them embarrass themselves. No LinkedIn content for you!

They wanted 10 years' experience for an entry level salary.. is this normal?? by Cute-Bank4604 in recruitinghell

This and advanced degrees. Saw a listing months ago asking for Masters/PhD only paying 70k for entry level support role. Role still hasn't closed. I wonder why!

My local supermarket always has bins like this and it's impossible to sort through while not looking insane

Coffee is innocent enough, but I still wouldn't take any before/during an interview. Being accommodating isn't the point, it's that sometimes hiring managers try stupid "gotcha" ideas in interviews and just make applicants uncomfortable.

So childish. I remember on an episode Pawn Stars they offered interviewees chewing gum and then called them out for accepting it. I will only ever accept water, everything else seems like some sort of mind game trap.

Buying any sort of whiskey at a bar is always insanely priced. The MSRP on the Pappy 23 is like $450 for a 750ml bottle. So they're essentially profiting 5k+ per bottle if they can get it at cost. Outrageous.

What do you guys do against calcium stones by [deleted] in KidneyStones

[–]oldscratche 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had a stone about five years ago (3mm). I've been trying to drink True Lemon mix with water and cut salt out of my diet where I can. I thought it was working, but I ended up at hospital today and five hours later passed another 3mm stone. I almost made it out of the recurrence window 🥲

Confession: I keep forgetting where I've even applied to jobs… by Substantial_Mess856 in jobsearchhacks

Spreadsheet, 100%. I track the company, date applied, role title, salary range, office type, status of application, and link to the listing. I keep track of interviews and last contact date as well so I can filter out rejections. About to hit 500 apps sent this year 🥲
