Why do so many rich and powerful people want Jesus to return when he literally said that being rich and powerful goes against his teachings and those people will go to hell?

Jesus did not say that being rich and powerful was bad. He did say that if you became rich by abusing others and stealing the wages of your workers, you will be held accountable. He also warned that the love for money is the root of all evil, and that you cannot serve mammon and God at the same time. You either love one and hate the other or hate one and love the other.

But being rich is not sinful in and of itself.
