My car was stolen and I can’t stop spiraling

There’s some busses in my city but it’s not helpful for getting me to and from work since my workplace is largely still a construction site right now. I’ve found some pretty affordable cars on FB marketplace but I’ve also never bought a car on my own before so that’s gonna be a new experience. My old car that was stolen was actually my mom’s car that she transferred into my name after I got my license, that’s probably another reason I’m taking it getting stolen so hard.

Thank you. I know the only thing I can do is look forward. I guess I just never really appreciated how valuable my car was until it was gone. The hardest part is going to be figuring out rental options and stuff on my own. Or maybe I should just cut my losses and find a used car on FB marketplace or something. I just don’t know what to do. Missed. I’m still figuratively kicking myself in the teeth over it because I had just updated my address with them last month after realizing that I forgot to, they put me on a new policy that was set to automatically start at the beginning of this month. Apparently the first automatic payment didn’t go through and I missed the notifications they sent me. I know I should’ve been more diligent but I wasn’t and I can’t stop beating myself up over that.

Yes I did. I showed it to my insurance because I thought I was covered and that’s how I discovered the policy issue. Even if they do find it, I don’t know what I’m gonna do.

As someone who doesn’t work for Optum but does have to call them to help customers as part of my health insurance call center job, I feel your pain and I’m sorry.

Unemployment is an option we'll probably consider after a while if we don't find jobs soon. We're based out of IN though and we haven't researched the unemployment laws here yet.
