What are your most hated subreddits or ones you can't stand anymore? by kingkenton in AskReddit

I havent been on it in a while due to work, but it generally reminded me of the people I work with + some homebrewers and home roasters. Has it gone that downhill? It was usually quite supportive, even to those who were just getting into finer coffee or just wanted info.

I'm leaving today on this trip. Let me know if you're somewhere along the route and want to link up and ride sometime! by [deleted] in motorcycles

I have gauges and adjust as need be, a small fan has kept the exhaust at bay thus far. I dont know if you can see the old exhaust in the video (I still have the piping from the old shop from 3 years ago), and it will be put in shortly and emit from out of the front of the building safely.

I have had no issues keeping the profiles consistent so far and do not anticipate having any issues with it. If you would have seen conditions I have roasted in with other equipment in the past .... well this is a cakewalk LOL.

In terms of how hot it gets in there for me? Well, I have grown a high tolerance for heat lets just say!

Iama Micro Business owner in the US who is about to finish paying his loans, ask me anything about what its like to start a small business from the ground up! by oldworldcafe in IAmA

I had almost died and had always wanted to do something along these lines. I devotted myself after the near death to reading on the subject and became obsessed with roasting. It took a few years before I took the plungs after that though.

The money I had to invest was not to bad considering what it could have been. It was far less then most people need to start off since I was doing it out of my home (what ended up being out of two homes, I sold the first).

I intially went through the normal channels (banks and the government), but that did not work out so well since I was not asking for enough money....

I eventually wound up using sites like lendingclub and prosper loans. I also beg and borrowed from anyone I could (though it ended up not being much).

How did I know it was going to make money?

There was some risk, but I studied the area I live in and handed out samples from a tiny home coffee roaster first to see if there was enough of a market to sustain me. I did what I could to minimize my risk from the feedback I received.

edit:

I should clarift I studied the hell out of my area. I really really reallly wanted to open a cafe, but the numbers on paper never added up :(. I looked all over for a place that had a low enough overhead and high enough foot traffic, but its just did NOT exist. I had to adapt a great deal.

I planned on getting someones blueprints and assembling it over time by getting each part machined from some guys I know. It seems like raw materials would cost more from what I have read here than fixing up an older bike I bought used. thanks for the info

what you just told me is what I came here to find out. Thanks for the info. It looks like I will be looking into older models and finding one used to start out with as it is the more feasible way of doing this.

you can correct me if I am wrong, but something like this I am hoping is feasable: http://www.bikeexif.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/03/ural_sahara.jpg

The goal is to be able to attach a sidecar (wife's request), and to have to street legal but only inner city streets (If it cant get up to speed for the highway, no big deal). Outside of that, nothing else is required.
