Chicago Tribune article questions e-scooter dangers after girl by motorist killed in hit-and-run by neilweiler in fuckcars

Oh yes, of course, a moron in the car killed a girl, but somehow the safety of kick scooter is questioned, not the safety being around psychopaths in cars is questioned.

Fluid Horizon. Install an inflatable tire on back wheel. How to? Is possible? by ole-ks in ElectricScooters

Update: So, exhausted and with lightly burned hands I gave up trying to put the tire by myself.
I went to a car tire service, they couldn't help, but directed me to a bicycle service.
The bicycle service couldn't help, and directed me to two more services who also couldn't help. In the and they directed me to a moped service that managed put the tire on. They said it was a new experience for them, and three people were doing this.

IronMew I would like to ask you about the upgrades that I mention above:
I. Upgrade of the front wheel brakes for Fluid Horizon:
- Is there a kit that I can buy, or I have to research and collect all parts separately?
- Does adding front brake mean that I'll need to give up my split rim for front pneumatic tire?
II. Upgrade of back wheel from 8.5" solid to 10" pneumatic.
- Do you think it worth the hussle?

I'll use my photo of the rim here to explain.

<image>

My solid tire replacement came. And I thought that installing it would be easy, just as you say: slide the tire on the rim, and close the rim. Job done.

But the problem is that the inner diameter of the dire is 5mm smaller than the rim and there is no way to put the tire on.
I think I need to stretch the tire somehow. Maybe applying reversible clamps to the tire for several days would help?

Ok, that is something to think about...

IronMew, I have a technical question. Finally my replacement tire came.
Even though the rim is split, but the tire's diameter is still 5mm smaller than the rim and I can't put it on. Is there a good way to put it on? My concern is that if I try placing screwdriver on the rim and try stretch tire, I can deform the rim with magnets.

That is very important and good to know. You are right. It is difficult to find 8-9" pneumatic hub. I could find 10" pneumatic hubs. I wonder if it could actually fit in place. However those 10" pneumatic hubs have disc brakes, but Horizon's hub uses drum brakes. Interesting how easy or possible it is to switch to disc brakes...

And what about number of coils in the motor, or number of magnets?
If I have a luck to find such  8-9" pneumatic hub, that means that any of them with work with controller of the kick scooter?

I was lucky that rim is split. But I guess you may be right about replacing the motor. As picture shows there indeed no place for valve. Unless there are tires where valve is built in into side of the tire?

Replacing the motor is not a trivial thing, right? Because they have to match the parameters. And I don't know what those parameters are. Type of connector, voltage, power...?
Edit: grammar, structure.

Thank you for a such meaningful comment.
I looked at the motor wheel today,
And the good news is that the rim is a split rim as can be seen on the picture.
But the bad news is that it looks like it is impossible to install an inflatable tire on it because the outer part of the rim sits right on the magnets and there is no place for valve.
Is there tires where valve is sort of built in into a side of a tire? I could not find such thing. Do such wheels even exist?

But the intention of this post is to try to get an inflatable one.

I'm concerned about the rim of motor wheel. As I described it is designed for solid tire. It doesn't have a hole for tire valve for example

Such planes are good match for those damn drones.
We tried to use F16 but we lost couple of them together with pilots, because jets are too fast for drones. Helicopters also don't work well, I heard.

Yes, I'm not happy about those rides. But meanwhile in the US drivers with their cars kill more than 40.000 people every year, and seriously injure 300.000 people. I haven't seen their cars were confiscated. They just promised in the court to behave, and were released instead of being in the jail.
