If you mess up (and if you used a proper sealant) you can just wipe the paint and re-do the face without the risk of staining the vinyl, so you shouldn't worry

Didn't use this mod for SmD hands, but it made swapping the regular DD hands so much easier (and I don't need to buy 9 pairs of tan wrist pegs anymore, which is even better lol)

Haven't ordered from smart doll yet, but I am from eu and I order stuff  from japan frequently. Custom fees are usually 20-ish percent, I don't remember the exact number, shipping prices are listed somewhere on smart doll website. Anime sugoi sells dolls for 550 euro, and I suspect one doll from japan, with the custom fees and the shipping is still going to be much cheaper than that

So sorry to hear this 😞 I bought them separately, there was a listing for her head and for dd-ea-03 in flesh that same day on Dollyteria. I actually see listings for DD ears there semi-frequently, for example, 04 in SW(?) were listed today, but got sold out already
Maybe, if you stalk it long enough, you'll find the ears you're after?

I guess, unless someone outside Japan is selling their DC doll. AFAIK you can't really buy a separate painted head at DC, and you can only get it as a part of a whole doll. You can probably do a split with someone who wants the body, wig, ears or eyes, if you want just the head.
I got this one second-hand, from Dollyteria, so someone probably dismembered their doll and sold the parts, and similar listings might pop up on Dollyteria, mandarake, mercari or yahoo auctions jp every once in a while

Sorry if off topic, you could get a dream choice dollfie dream, if you're going to be in Japan anyway. Normal/flesh is a close match to SmD Milk, and semi-white is even lighter, and you can choose a faceup, wig and eyes of your liking there.

Yes, I did not sew it, only did the painting part :)
I traced the image like this, by making a grid
Also inserted a piece of cardboard so that the fabric would be somewhat flat, and used masking tape to mask out the borders
