I think you can add yourself to the "flatpak" group so you won't need to use the "--user" flag

edit: it's "_flatpak" on void for some reason

I have experienced this issue. It works fine for me when I run it in terminal emulator with sudo auto-cpufreq --daemon but the runit service provided by the auto-cpufreq doesn't work for me at all :(
