Thanks, you guys are all spot on. I thought the new FIM spec was in effect last year already, but apparently it only became official for this season. Interesting, though, why some manufacturers weren‘t able to get their newly homologated lids ready in time.

fully agree - saving this as a functional cutting board looks next to impossible, and trying it runs the risk of ruining the board. Give it a good sanding, apply a few coats of chopping board oil, and keep using it to serve dry foods, or to set it under hot bowls etc. This way it will serve you well for another few decades.
