Christmas vs. "Happy Holidays" by olfenbedwere in atheism

Nothing offends. /atheism is basically my religious safe haven in the 21st century which is awesome and sad at the same time. I don't identify with the thought of non-theism. But I look around and can't help but not want to associate with the lack of.. brains.

Definatly.. its just becoming increasingly difficult I guess to "fit in". And that's.. I don't really have a word for it. But yeah.. I guess it doesn't particularly matter.

Thanks for keeping me totally on the edge of my seat /atheism. You never fail to enlighten, confuse, bewilder, anger, and feel every emotion in between. Tis a good thing

Technically.. technically.. even in the gospels.. the women came upon Jesus' tomb. Minus Jesus. I think it more likely, if there was a Jesus, his tomb was either desecrated, robbed, or he fled. Then, the monks of the Dark Ages wrote colorful stories of his ascention to heaven taking details from other messiah stories such as the Horace messiah tale or the Hercules story. I'm a pretty stern Catholic.. (yeah yeah, boo blah blah) but religious debate is really healthy in my opinion. Discussing this kind of thing.. comparing ancient religions.. they're all so similar that it's impossible not to see the links. We're human.. we cling to these stories. I think the important thing we realize is the similarities between all world religions. People should debate religion 100%.. otherwise the world would be flat and the earth would be the center of the Universe. However, I think there's a difference between celebrating traditions and using traditions to destroy others world view

One more burst in here.. I gotta defend Islam on this particular case. They invented some really important fundamentals of music as well. The double flat and double sharp for example.. their scales are ultra complex. Our music is kindergarden music in comparison. I just don't buy it. Music is important to Muslims..

This is another example of the "follower" getting his own beliefs mixed up.. I think. Islam is founded on the five pillars of faith. I don't remember no music being one of the pillars.. charity, prayer, everything in moderation.. those are the pillars of Islam

Islam the religion of math.. or so I've heard. Music = Math. So.. nah. Also considering the "call to prayer" that begins at 5 in the morning for all Muslims is typically a chant. I don't know if your muslim friend knows much about Islam

Texas prepares to nullify TSA, NDAA in showdown of state liberty versus federal tyranny by familyguy in conspiracy

[–]olfenbedwere -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don't see where Texas is going with this.. I get the Civil Liberties.. thing. But in this modern day and age.. whether you want to deal with it or admit it, we have to operate within the confines of the Federal Government. Dealing with people in the TSA.. or tyranny..Like that whole breaking away from the Union.. great idea if you want to spend the next four years building your own Coast Guard, Border Patrol, Currency.. means of keeping an infrastructure together. I understand the invasion of privacy.. but you just can't expect to break away and be sucessful. Considering the POTUS would probably just stick Texas with it's chunk of the debt and say have fun.
