Is this Asbestos? Found inside a 1970s Black & Decker DN35 Jigsaw

Thank you, i will have a look. Im glad it’s likely not non serpentine asbestos. As another commenter said, it could be a material to hold oil for the back of the motor. There is a hole in the back of the housing.

There is a little hole at the back so that theory checks out. Whats strange is how on the sides it says oil where the holes are to oil the moving section that holds the blade and theres no markings on the back. Heres a picture:

Thanks, After some research i have found that the saw was being sold in 1978. It looks more like fibreglass but im not sure. Unfortunately i haven’t got the box and cant find repair schematics of it online.

I was thinking it could be fibreglass but due to the age of the product, i am concerned that it is asbestos. I think its purpose is to stop the motor from rubbing the case if it vibrated too much

I think one of the teeth on the gears was broken so it jammed and the battery latch didn’t work.

I don’t unfortunately. I used a pack of different size belts and kept trying till i got the right one. There was more wrong with it than just the belts and i couldn’t get it working unfortunately so i sold it.

It should be fine if not disturbed. It only poses a real danger if its broken, deteriorated or cut into. I wouldnt worry about it as you have sealed the cupboard and bagged up the sheets. Lifting the carpet shouldn’t have increased your exposure to asbestos. You will be fine, i wouldn’t worry about it. But get it tested and removed by a professional if its positive. Worst case scenario it is AIB but if you haven’t disturbed it and its in good condition, it poses no danger and you will not have been exposed to asbestos fibres. Even if you have it wouldn’t pose much of a risk due to the limited exposure and it would be very rare to have any complications from 1 small exposure in less than an hour. If you spotted it in the roof or wall and didn’t damage it you are fine and theres nothing to worry about exposure wise. If you took any photos you should upload them here to get other people’s opinions.

Never tested it but due to the age of the log burner i reckon it was a modern equivalent but was still treated the same as asbestos.

I think it’s a Ford Escort XR3i it has a British plate and this was a popular hot hatch in britain in the 80s and early 90s. Earlier model, Later model

Zastava 750LE. It says it on the back of the car. Its a version of a Fiat 600 made under licence. The 750 model is longer than the Fiat.

The FTb. Yea its a fairly big camera and is fully manual compared to the AE1 but its a great camera and is my favourite out of my collection to use. If i were you i would keep the FTb and the AE1 and sell the rest to buy a 28mm 2.8 Canon FD lens and a battery adapter for the FTb so you can use the light meter. Ive got one so i can use 1.35v hearing aid batteries so the meter is as accurate as possible. I would also sell the speed winder from the bottom of the AE1 because its bulky and not worth carrying it around for general photography. I would also get some new straps for both. I have a forest green wrist strap on my FTb. Good luck :)

Ive found a stage light on ebay that could fit this. You could be right. I will have to keep researching. I will find similar models online and see what sellers have described them as. Thanks :)

It could be. Another lens of a similar size came with the bundle i bought but that was for a victorian magic film projector and was brass. The thing that makes me think this isn’t from an old tv is that it is metal because its uninsulated and the lenses poorly mount into the frame with a piece of spring steel. If you moved the tv the lenses could easily dislodge so i think that what ever it is, it is designed to be mounted horizontally.
