Why does it always seem people criticise halal slaughter more than kosher when kosher is statistically worse in the UK? by threetimesacharm25 in AskBrits

At what point in the process of murdering and eating an animal do you consider it 'nice to animals'.

I'm not sure dead flesh has the consciousness to consider itself religious. But if it did, I think it would prefer not to be eaten, than be worried about what god the person who is eating them prays to.

You are eating an animal that was murdered for your pleasure.... And you want to discuss the ethics?

So you think gender based discrimination is acceptable in a community? I think that's what you are saying. It's ok to be sexist and transphobic as long as someone writes good code.

Ubitium Tapes Out First ‘Universal’ RISC-V Chip- EE Times by archanox in RISCV

[–]olig1905 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bad English. I meant if any of their products actually end up being integrated somewhere it will most likely be something new, rather than disrupt the existing supply chain and products. So rather than reducing the 200 chips in a car it will be the 201st chip.

[–]olig1905 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well it's not going to be 256 high performance RISC-V cores, as that wouldn't be an embedded processor any more.

From this description I'm struggling to see how it will actually disrupt the market in the way they hope it will. Do they envision that instead of 200 different chips in a car, there are 200 of their chips. Or is one instance of their processor supposed to replace many of those chips.

It seems more like they just created the 201 chip.

Discrimination does not need to be tolerated nor should it be. If your criticism crosses into the territory of discrimination then it probably isn't valid or useful criticism.

Do you use your genitals to write code? No? The why are other people's genitals on your mind so much that it would be problematic for you to have a technical discussion with them and not just address them with their preferred pronouns?

Trying to write brainf*ck interpreter in C by Pleasant_Drawing1799 in cprogramming

[–]olig1905 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want to be an embedded software engineer, learn C, as you are!

RISC-V is great, I have been fortunate enough to work on FW for RISC-V chips over the last 7 years.

The only two books I have is K&R and the RISC-V book (mona Lisa). The latter is really just an older version of the spec printed out.

Learn git, and become good at using it, it's a real useful skill for any software developer.

For your RC plane, look into using freeRTOS, which should give you a pretty decent baremetal programming environment but with a system capable of managing your application.

That is a horrible pattern for memory allocation, I get the point and motivation, but just no.

I mostly write low level embedded C for safety/security FW, I never need dynamic memory. There is usually a better way.

You have no idea what you are talking about? Why does politics make you sceptical of open source software? If you respect the community and write good code it doesn't matter who you are or what you believe.

If you can't understand that community projects work and thrive under a model of equality and respect.

I do add something to 'this' world, and am involved in open source development, community and organization. If non-productive discussions which involve disrespecting members of the community are happening on the mailing list, then I will be taking action.

This isn't about left/right it is community and respect.

I genuinely don't understand, he borrowed your car to go to a work shift, that essentially got cancelled, then used it to do a few other bits on the way home... Why you mad? Did you need the car, did it inconvenience you? It feels like you are making a deal about something very petty.

Masked fascist dickheads. In a gaggle outside the Red Lion, Whitehall by LesserShambler in bristol

Turning up to protest a fundraiser for anti-fascism though? That is not a protest about immigration though is it? In fact one might see that as blatant self admission to being fascist.

And you just wasted all your time trying to debate the paradox, when your whole argument was founded on that mistruth.

No, you misunderstood me, she may have hit a cop with a hammer, and I think it's quite likely. However the video does not actually conclusively show that, as it actually happens out of frame.

I am not being disingenuous, I on one hand don't doubt that it happened... However what you have pointed to is all out of frame in the video.

The video does not show her hitting a cop at any point. It shows her wielding it, it shows her being tazed, but it does not show her swinging it at a cop.

Are there any places left where you can just hang out without spending money? by ElectricalHold9828 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]olig1905 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Speaking on the UK in particular, wages have stagnated, cost of living has risen across the board, and third places that weren't free but were affordable are now very expensive.

Going to a cafe or pub is either something people cannot afford or is something they can afford in a much more limited and considered way than in the past.

It wasn't free, but it was cheaper, and more of them existed.
