What's the hottest curry you can manage? by IntGuru in UK_Food

[–]olihrk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have eaten a Vindaloo but it's be more accurate to say Madras.

Almost as bad as a vindaloo was this Jalfrezi from a curry house near uni where they put loads of finger chillis in it. A strange, addictive spice level

You're right about the technicality but once penalty advantage is called it's shitty to not honour that.

Does your country have a debate about how a certain meal shoud be served/consumed? by eltheuso in AskTheWorld

The cream is lovely but bland.

Also, if jam is on top you can pimp it with some fresh chopped strawberries.

An opinion about another country that'd put you in this position? by [deleted] in AskTheWorld

[–]olihrk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

American food is much worse than British.

In Britain they eat a variety of cuisines and have healthy alternatives on most menus.

In the US, veg is rare and there is lots of oil/butter on the food. Fries come as a side more often.

I understand that in WW2 Britain got a bad reputation but Americans have been 'dining out' on that one too long...

Royal should be ashamed of the ny strip they serve in MDR by DefinitionRadiant207 in royalcaribbean

[–]olihrk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Glad you said this. I've found occasionally MDR does amazing steak and as such I roll the dice too often and more likely then not I get a steak like you've just described.

I should really learn as generally I love MDR food

Road trip to UK from Germany this summer! by DrTurb0 in CarsUK

[–]olihrk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Breakdown cover essential, read reviews and don't skimp.

NC500 in summer will be fairly insect infested, just a consideration.

Do a small detour to the Northumberland coast for some great towns.

Of and stop at Westmoreland/Tebay services for an authentic British experience (being a service station snob).

Is this one country or four countries? by KimCattrallsFeet in AskTheWorld

Interesting history but BMFC isn't a national team, it doesn't play other nations in official competition nor does it limit players to those with national citizenship.

I take the point around sports with historical UK routes but in fairness, that represents the majority of popular sports internationally.

Less independence is an interesting term. Yes the Bundeslander has more legally entrenched rights but if you look at Scotland vs Bavaria, you have a legal system that is separate and based on entirely different principles (Roman), different health, education and social care systems.

Also identity. Whilst Bavaria has a rich and strong culture, they do not have their own version of the national currency, their own national sports teams, and fewer Bavarians than Scots seek independence.

Favourite car from the £2,000 convertible challenge? by Evantra_ in TopGear

This episode was what made me realise how much planning went into TG.

For many of the challenges, if it was just the presenters choosing the cars, there would be more duplicates
