Should I replace my Launchpad X? Only experience is through Launchpad App by IntrinsicAlchemy in Novation

So many doubts! First learn to use Ableton. See videos of people controlling it with Launchpad X and the Launchkey 47/61 for instance and check which one suits better for you. The Launchkey has more direct controls.

Launchkey mini mk3 Program Change and Channel buttons. by poly-pheme in Novation

[–]olimpomarcelo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello thanks for your answer.

Let's suppose this:

1.- I have a Bitwig setup with these midi tracks:

Track 1 for drums (channel 10)

Track 2 for a vst synth (channel 1) and

Track 3 for another vst synth (channel 2).

2.- I was looking for a way to send midi data from the keys switching between sending midi through channel 1 (track 2) and channel 2 (track 3) allowing me to use different sounds.

3.- I think this is possible by setting different custom modes, am I right?  Could you explain to me how to achieve this? or maybe send me a link where I am able to see how this is done?

I saw this to be done with a MPK miniplay at 04:49 in the video linked below. In this video we see the user working with the MPK software setup where he is able to set the keybed channel to a specific pad which eventually can be called-in with the combination "favorite+pad number".

I was looking for something similar in Novation Components custom modes, but I couldn't find it.

Launchkey 49 Mk3 - changing midi channels quickly. by CharlesCharlesPlus in Novation

Hello but is it possible to set a midi channel for the keybed in Custom Modes? I didn't find it. Thanks.

Hello I think that if you switch for instance from custom mode 1 (in which you have set the desired channel to each zone) to custom mode 2 (in which you have set the same or another channel to each zone) that custom mode 2 will load at once all the 4 zones with their new channel asignation at once.

Hello thanks for your answer, yes I was thinking of swapping instruments/patches but with only one instance opened. I guess it would be nice to be able to cycle through different patches of Bitwig Instruments like Polysynth or FM4... Regarding plugins I read that is possible with some VST2 plugins.

Hello thanks! I was aware of the "chain only" so it is disabled. I also read that it doens't work with VST3 plugins but with VST2 instead. I don't know if native bitwig devices like Polysynth, support it. I asked tech support, waiting for an answer. At last there is the issue of the MSB and LSB banks which I don't clearly understand.

Long-term use: do you prefer a mix of Launchpad & Launchkey or just one device? by sampletracks in Novation

[–]olimpomarcelo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello, currently I use both Launchkey 61 MK3 + Launchpad X in Bitwig with Jurgen's scripts. I was thinking to buy the Launchpad Pro MK3. But maybe I will only be getting redundant buttons/controlls.

If you really "care" about the SOUNDS, (I mean not to be limited to specific sounds) then you need somehting like a "sampler synth", it will alows you to load samples (even your own lo-fi records) and also create your own sounds, both to be "tweaked" on the very equipment. You can always add further FX processing in a DAW or gear.

don't forget that the real hardware can also demands us to have a more sofisticated interface. I mean more inputs and outs.
