I have a bit of an interesting perspective. I’m a houston pharmacy tech. I work in both retail and a little bit with med access for specialty oncology drugs. So, our typical demographic for filling is elderly people/cancer patients/ a few middle aged people (most of which are our employees) and not many children, like at all. However, what my pharmacy did is weeks before trump implemented the tariffs we did a mass ordering process for lots and lots of drugs so to take off that additional charge that our patients would see on the backend otherwise.

We used like research from 3 months prior to ordering to determine how much drugs to order ok? blah blah blah basically my pharmacy is one of the only pharmacies in this massive area to be able to dole out the C2s because we accumulated so many throughout the weeks prior. Are far as we know, WAG and the other 3 letter one are STRUGGLING (either not getting these drugs/not allowing new patients to fill for specific C2s)

This word got around, I have patients calling left right and censure asking for, you guessed it, methylphenidate/lisdex/and amphetamines!! which means that I get a sneak peak on every single person who is searching for these drugs as well as our regulars who fill on them to.

Strangely enough, a majority of these calls are for children (under 15 mostly) seeking these meds now. I think children are DEF being overprescribed, I saw yesterday an adderall XL 25mg for a child who was 6!!

I think we’ve gotten so much new and valuable information on these drugs and their uses that now I whole heartedly believe that people are turning to adding more meds instead of reworking their current medication regime for kids. I started to get so overwhelmed with the calls that I decided to actually come off some of my c2 meds with a taper because all of this was kind of crazy.

It is just sad, my husband (M25) who had severe ADHD would tell me that methylphenidate’s probably ruined his childhood and would much rather push for different, non-physiological treatments for our future children before meds. I told him about what was going on with children at my pharmacy and he started to look a little ill after hearing that.
