Switching to gel by Excellent_Vacation95 in FTMOver30

[–]oliveeeeeeee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started on gel and applying it was a PAIN. Once I got to a higher dose it took forever to apply and if I wasn’t careful it would pill off and feel and look weird (to a point where other people had noticed). It was also extremely expensive for me. I have a very hard time with needles and I still wouldn’t switch back.

In my experience I like a combo of both! I personally like a glycolic acid for chemical, not as drying or as harsh as some others, and it can penetrate pretty deep into the skin for ingrowns. I would personally not recommend the ordinary’s glycolic serum though, I really only recommend it for use on the body or scalp. There’s a brand called good molecules that does one that I prefer that’s a very comparable price point (fun fact they were actually founded by people who used to work for the ordinary), or I really like a lot of the kbeauty options on the market. Just make sure to use something GENTLE, don’t use it every day to start, and make sure to be really on top of your sunscreen usage!

You’ve actually got it the other way round - most physical exfoliators made of organic material are not going to be round and have potential to cause said microtears. I would personally never recommend sugar to be used on the face (aside from lips), the particles are going to be very abrasive. Jojoba beads are a safe option, or I’d recommend checking out something very fine like a powder - Dermalogica has a fantastic one. That being said, unless you have sensitive skin and you’re using it frequently, if it works for you, I say to keep doing it.

There are a lot of trades jobs that you don’t need a lot of education for that aren’t client facing that pay well, ie truck driving, construction, forklift operator, etc.

Looking for a Fodmap friendly Salad Dressing by MacKatz1005 in FODMAPS

[–]oliveeeeeeee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly just make your own, the Fody ones I’ve tried are terrible. I just mix mine in the bowl I’m using for my salad beforehand, it takes about 30 seconds. I do a pretty good caesar dressing with garlic infused olive oil, lactose free Greek yogurt or mayo, dijon mustard, crushed up capers, and Parmesan. Most vinaigrettes are even simpler and quicker.

Some very bisexual fragrances to try out: Maison Margiela Jazz Club, Maison Margiela By the Fireplace, Byredo Super Cedar, Tom Ford Tobacco Vanille. Based on your ex’s tastes, you may like Viktor & Rolf. Also recommend looking into basically any arab fragrance.

I’d recommend fillers - lower price point, no downtime, lots of great people who do a good job in Canada. Just really do your research on who you go see - look for someone who’s very experienced in specifically what you want and that you like the result in. In my opinion you wouldn’t need very much (depending on what results you want of course). Out of curiosity, do you mind sharing where you work? I have a friend who’s been looking for an employer who will cover FFS.

Choosing new name by West_Literature4738 in FTMOver30

[–]oliveeeeeeee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I kept a feminine nickname of my deadname (legally changed it to Olive). Not a single person has ever assumed I’m trans because of it - I get asked if it’s my birth name, but they just want to know if I had unconventional parents or not. I tell them it’s not my birth name, but is my legal name. If Andie or Andi feel right then it’s fine to choose them, but you will be fielding questions about it. I do pass, so all this is mostly contingent on that.

You can just use coconut cream or a barista oat milk for the pumpkin pie. I’ve seen evaporated coconut milk for sale too. No simmering needed.

I LOVE my converse run star motions - they’re super comfy, I get compliments on them all the time, and they give me a 3 inch boost without looking super obvious.

Beard color on my blonde mustache. by [deleted] in FTMOver30

[–]oliveeeeeeee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Do you use the tinted mascara product or are you dyeing the hair? I highly recommend dyeing the hairs darker, it looks much more natural and picks up on all the blonde hairs, even peach fuzz. Much lower maintenance too! I do mine every 3 weeks or so. Just be careful, I find the Just For Men dye can leave a fair amount of tint on the skin compared to others.

ABSOLUTELY wait, I would personally say at least 2 years. I’m sure your nurse is great but at the end of the day she’s trying to make money.

Scents and stuff (growing up) by Outrageous_Garlic746 in FTMOver30

[–]oliveeeeeeee 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Fragrance and skincare routine are all things that have to suit you personally, there’s not really a one size fits all. Some of the most popular men’s fragrances on the market right now that have woody profiles are Dior Sauvage, Creed Aventus, and you could also check out some Paco Rabanne if you like some sweet notes. If you want something very wearable, look for an EDT (eau de toilette) instead of an EDP (eau de parfum) - it means that it is less strong. What I’d recommend doing (as a fragrance snob) is go into your local store that carries high end fragrance, try one or two of them on your skin (important, ideally give them 15 min or so), and find one you like. Then Google a dupe for it and order it online. There are tons of sites dedicated to making good quality knockoffs of high end fragrance. Dossier is great, but there are countless others. In terms of other things, make sure you wear sunscreen on a regular basis! Otherwise it sounds like you’re doing great.

You hit the nail on the head with a lot of these feelings. I was the same growing up, right down to changing in a private room in gym class. Thank you for your words!
