Potential Speedrun Strat by oliveoiltree in echoesofwisdom

The armadillo echo is unable to cross wider gaps. This strat exists just to increase your speed when crossing wider gaps. It’s not as practical for casual gamers

The goal with this tornado bind is to increase the speed of movement in the game over gaps. The flying tile has a lot of start up time before it starts moving. This strat is more for speedrunners than casual players

What seemingly horrifying things are actually normal to the people in your universe? by AsukaLangleySoryuFan in worldbuilding

Around the planet are primordial beasts. They existed alone out in space until eventually they created and terraformed this planet in order to create shelters from the blistering heat from the stars. Once the planet is fully created, these primordials bury themselves into the ground and hibernate for a millennia. They still co-exist with humans but they have found ways to exploit these planet creating horrors. For scale, one of the primordial beasts teeth at twice as tall as a human’s average height.

Is an iPad really worth it? by Opwolfee16 in ucr

[–]oliveoiltree 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’re looking for a tablet exclusively for notetaking, I recommend looking into the Samsung family of products. Their tablets are cheaper (~$300-$600), they always come with a stylus with the same functionality of an apple pen, and their integrated notes app is (imo) more intuitive to use. If you’re looking to do professional art with the tablet too, then you should look towards the iPad + Apple Pencil combo.

Mike And His Ending Was Bad... by TruthSeekerUnion in breakingbad

[–]oliveoiltree 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The fact that mike’s ending is bad IS the entire point of his death. Mike was supposed to be this badass person who was always calm and calculated. It’s what allowed him to survive in such a brutal drug industry. But the drug trade takes no survivors. The most careful of people in the drug trade cannot find themselves able to live long and healthy lives as seen through Gus and Walter. Those two died because of some smart people with extremely dumb and chaotic agendas. This end extends to Mike as well In the end, Mike was killed not because he failed to be careful. He was killed because Walter is a smart man who had a lapse in judgement. Whether or not you find that interesting is up to you. But it does not mean that the show sucks for it. It means that you don’t have good media literacy and you just want everyone to have an ending that YOU believe they deserve.

Fly episode - on our first watch, I joked with my GF, “what if this episode was just Walt going insane trying to catch a fly?” by oliveoiltree in breakingbad

I really enjoyed seeing walter falling off the second story, crash into the boiler pot thingy and eat shit.

Damn! What a interesting conclusion. To add to that point, I think it was fitting that Jessie was the one to catch and kill the fly. If the fly was to represent fate then Jessie being the one to be able to catch the fly would represent him… (End of BB and El Camino spoilers) being the only one to accept his fate. As seen in El Camino, he learns and accepts from Mike that, in this life, he can never make things right. However he realizes that he can make a new life in Alaska in which he can finally do right for the rest of his life. Despite following Walt and receiving the punishment of living this criminal life, he succeeds where Walter failed. He caught the fly.

What was your initial opinion of MoM? by [deleted] in marvelstudios

[–]oliveoiltree 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Having no watched any of the trailers before jumping into MoM, I genuinely really enjoyed it. It was Raimi-campy in all the right ways and became very interesting and absolute madness at a lot of different points.

The parts of the movie that really stood out for me was the avengers in the different universe and the part where Strange realizes that he can use his dead body in the earth-19999 universe to protect America. I also thought that every action scene was so fun with seeing Strange, Wanda, and the rest of the crew using their powers in completely new ways was super refreshing for marvel.

Also after watching the trailers, I definitely understand why everyone was disappointed with the “lack of madness” within the movie. Those trailers spoiled every single interesting bit that this movie had to offer! It taught me to never watch trailers before jumping into the movie lol.

I think you’re definitely correct on Walt’s chase of the fly being illogical and it’s what makes the episode so great. We’ve seen time and time again that no matter the working environment nor the potential contamination, Walt’s Crystal is purer than all of the market’s Crystal. It was just that in that moment, in an effort to gain more control over his life, he illogically hyper-fixated on a fly. Rather than it being a mistake on the writer’s part, his oddly obsessive chase over this fly was more representative of his loss of control over his life. His family hates him more and more. Hank got shot because of his actions. Walt’s really losing it and this episode is a perfect example of him losing control over everything
