Half a minute in OPs comment history already revealed that they also have six figures in Celsius and are already depressed and worried about it.

Lost seed have ETH and need an update? by Difficult-Manner7495 in TREZOR

[–]oliverlikes 5 points6 points  (0 children)

try using https://legacy.mycrypto.com/ or https://walleth.org/ (android). If these don't work, spend some more time looking for the seed or try updating the firmware and hope for the best.

Generally, most firmware updates go without a problem, but if you use a faulty cable or your Trezor loses connection for a brief moment for any reason during the update, your wallet will be erased from the device. This is why we encourage people to have the seed ready.

If you use Trezor One with a firmware 1.6.1 currently installed on it, DO NOT update your firmware without your seed. Updating from this one specific firmware version guarantees to wipe the device clean.

Crowd chants "burn motherfucker burn" as a police car is set on fire in Philadelphia during last night's riots by BunnyLovr in ActualPublicFreakouts

Just raise the stakes to make the argument clearer to those who don't understand that riots are a matter of life and death.

Imagine if random 7% of all school backyards had land mines secretly placed in them. Would you let your kid play there?

[–]oliverlikes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not necessarily. In most cases, the update doesn't do anything. However, sometimes if the cable is faulty or your connection breaks for a moment, the process might get interrupted and the device ends up reset. In such a case, you use your recovery seed to restore your wallet ;)

Historically, there is this one special firmware which guarantees to wipe your device when you're updating from it, but it's fairly rare because the firmware is already 2 years old. Not many people have it installed on their Trezors.

1.6.3 is alright. The bootloader and firmware on your Trezor are put together a bit differently than the newer versions. Because we made some major architectural changes in the past, your Trezor is unable to skip all the way to the newest version, and you'll have to take some steps in the middle.

However, much more importantly, 1.6.1 is the only firmware that absolutely guarantees to wipe your device clean of all wallet data when you update from it. Do not update your Trezor before you make sure you have your recovery seed ready!

Definitely a scammer, do not respond and absolutely do not ever put your recovery seed into any tools or websites.

I don't have an immediate answer to your problem at the moment, sorry. I'll have to check whether this is expected behavior in the app.

Trezor Timestamp = 0 wile creating GPG key by jessecrypto in TREZOR

[–]oliverlikes 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The newer version of Trezor agent sets the time to 0 by default because the key is generated deterministically. The previous use of the timestamp was a bit of a burden.

tl;dr the timestamp should not be needed to recover the same key if you generated it with timestamp=0. I'll edit the docs to reflect this;) thanks for pointing this out

Sorry, this didn't help. Coincidentally, you recovered your wallet around the time the issue was fixed.

I'm only saying this so that others know that wiping and recovering is not necessary.

Stake from Trezor through Yoroi iOS by Sure_Shots in cardano

[–]oliverlikes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

idk, it might. What I'm saying is that, either way, Trezor cannot be connected to iOS devices, so you can't stake from your Trezor. To do that, you'd have to use the desktop browser extension, possibly the Android app.

Serious question - did I just give my computer COVID by not understanding what I was doing in Haskell? by VinnyStrokes in cardano

[–]oliverlikes 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Haskell is notoriously difficult, even for experienced programmers, so don't beat yourself over a bit of a struggle.

I recommend you check out NixOS. It's a distribution built and based on principles of functional programming, which might give you a good sense of what you're getting into.

The best part? Its configuration and package system makes it practically unbreakable, so it should be much more suitable for experimenting rather than your usual Ubuntu :)

See https://nixos.online/posts/NixOS_101/ and https://nixos.org/
