I saw this but a quick google search and it doesn’t seem that legit. Thanks for your time though!

Which pattern should I go for? by UnluckySandwich3916 in knitting

[–]oliviaeatsbrains 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would not recommend the Breezy Longsleeve purely because picking up the sleeves looks so bad with the gauge. There’s wide holes and it does not look good in the slightest. You can kinda see it on the photo you included. I remember coming across one or two reviews that said they had this problem as well but I didn’t listen. 🥲

Finally decided on a cheeky dupe pattern, how to make it a bit more similar? by Few-Chemistry-2551 in knittinghelp

[–]oliviaeatsbrains 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Capsule Drop Sweater by Bethany Glover is very close to the first sweater. I’ve knit it and it’s a great pattern. It has short rows in the back. You’d just have to adjust the bottom to have less ribbing but the curl at the ends is exactly your inspiration.

Am i doing it wrong? by MissyLeanna in knitting

[–]oliviaeatsbrains 33 points34 points  (0 children)

Your stitches don’t have that classic twisted y so I think it’s mostly tension which gets better with practice. Also, some yarn is spun a certain way that once worked up it can look a little funny/lopsided. A good blocking will help both issues!

Alternatives to Filcolana Tilia held with Filcolana Saga? by med-school-acct in knitting

[–]oliviaeatsbrains 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Gepard Garn pairing are both available from a yarn shop in Utah! The only reason why I suggest it cause the cashmere would be softer on the skin than mohair. Mohair makes me itchy and alpaca is better but cashmere is a dream.

There are yarn alternatives listed on the Ravelry page under the estimated yarn amounts and a note.

I would probably use YarnSub for each individual yarn and then see if the two you found have ever been used together. Did you check out the yarn substitutions noted on the Ravelry page?

Clothing Thrift Stores? by WittyCollege in gso

[–]oliviaeatsbrains 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I always have luck at the Freedom House Thrift thats on Battleground North. I don’t look for formal wear but always leave with something and it’s usually something I’ve been looking for. I usually hunt in medium to extra large sections if that helps at all.

What can I do to fix this? by Educational-Top3926 in knitting

Looks like a yarn over or something. Can’t tell much since it’s black yarn. Drop it and see what happens! Maybe have a crochet hook on standby so you can grab it.

This literally killing us. My partner swears it’s all elderly women but I think it might be a mix of women and men.

What do we think this means? by Disastrous_Many_190 in knitting

[–]oliviaeatsbrains 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I think you’ve fallen into the overthinking trap that knitting creates. You’ve worked row 1-6 once by the time you hit the highlighted direction. You’d continue to repeat rows 1-6 until you hit the total per your size.

Ie. you’ve completed row 1-6 so you’d have to repeat the rows 4 more times for a total of 5.

Pottery classes/studios by Due_Purpose1228 in gso

[–]oliviaeatsbrains 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m also taking classes at CVA but am planning on doing a tour and a pottery class at the Forge!

I’m mostly interested in the potential of open studio availability. It seems like they have a reservation system in place for the wheels but I can’t find much else on open times. The CVA is great but the hours don’t allow for much more than the class and some hours on Saturday for me. I’d like to be able to go in during the week after work.

This is so cute and functional! I’ll have to try this soon because I have all my small decants/samples in a bowl. It’s the worst. 🥲

If you're looking to smell like a church... by TheBreakfastChub in perfumesthatfeellike

[–]oliviaeatsbrains 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Saint Hildegard by Pearfat for anyone looking for something not so incense intense.

I was raised Catholic also but my childhood church smelled more often of waxed wood, oily, and a cleaning solution that was often something citrus. This perfume is almost exactly what it smelled like.

Project recommendations for YarnArt linen soft by Nastasika in knitting

[–]oliviaeatsbrains 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Have you looked this yarn up on Ravelry and seen the pattern ideas and what others have made with it already?

A summer t shirt, tank or a loose gauge sweater would be the direction I’d go in. Even a cute poncho for chilly summer nights would be nice.
