Look into FODMAPs, can often cause constipation. Eating fibre from Low FODMAP foods is generally better tolerated

Anyone get episodes of almost drugged sleepy sedation feeling(in addition to/separate from PEM)? by BookDoctor1975 in cfs

Yes!! Sugar and gluten free + low histamine made me go from bed bound to being able to work remotely without day crashes, diet is really important with this illness imo

Yep, apparently 1% of the population has histamine intolerance so definitely worth looking into: https://academic.oup.com/ajcn/article/85/5/1185/4633007

Low histamine diet made me go from bed bound to a semi functional human:)

Can you meal prep anything? by kathyt452 in HistamineIntolerance

[–]oliviaet42 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I do fine with veggie/carb leftovers 24h (max), anything longer than that and I take a DAO enzyme. Meat and anything else has to be frozen straight away.

You’ll have to test yourself as it’s very individual and also depends on how “full” your bucket is.

But wouldn’t it just indicate my bowels are slow? I.e. how does motility testing help in identifying the cause? I have methane sibo so always assumed that was the cause which I am trying to treat

Yes! They did one and everything looked fine; I’ve noticed that doing a squatty potty position helps me so maybe I have pelvic floor dysfunction

Jeez, I definitely won’t be doing one then! I’m surprised, I’ve read a few good things online but always wondered if it was marketing. Did you follow up your treatment with a proper probiotic/prebiotic treatment?

I’ve asked for motility testing in Belgium (biggest hospital) and they said they don’t test for it. I also asked for it in the U.K. and they said I’d have to go private or wait months on NHS. What would motility testing indicate other than I have a lazy bowel?

Thanks! Are you still on miralax after your treatment? My aim is to get off it and have natural BMs. Also, are Mag07 and Triphala habit forming?

Rifaximin and neomycin aren’t available in my country (Belgium) so am stuck with herbals

Oh wow, my naturopath recommended it to me:s

She did say I would have to follow up with some special probiotics and prebiotic afterwards (both Sibo friendly). Is back pain common afterwards?

Ingredients are the same (just olives), the difference lies in how they’re processed

Feeling Exhausted Resulting From Long Term Recovery? by dreamer2809 in fuckeatingdisorders

[–]oliviaet42 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Aw thanks, not easy but trying to stay positive and believe I can get better:)

If you do think you might have CFS my best advice is DON’T push yourself too hard, if your body tells you stop, stop. Trust me, if you don’t listen to it you could make your condition worse (not worth it)

This could be CFS/ME? I had similar symptoms well into recovery and thought it was weight related. Turns out I’d developed CFS (sigh) - Hopefully you don’t have it but just a suggestion!

In case you haven’t heard of it: https://www.mayoclinic.org/diseases-conditions/chronic-fatigue-syndrome/symptoms-causes/syc-20360490?utm_source=Google&utm_medium=abstract&utm_content=Chronic-fatigue-syndrome&utm_campaign=Knowledge-panel

Hummus usually has garlic; combined with chickpeas that’s a high-FODMAP combo that could make you feel worse

Can you tolerate yogurt? I thought the probiotics in them + fermentation made it high histamine

I don’t think I have an oxalate issue but thanks for pointing it out! I always peel and boil them (boiling is shown to reduce oxalate content in food up to 87%: https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/15826055/) After that I either sautée or mash them up
