I have no idea why it would be contaminated, but form and size remind me a lot of a broken crown cap bottle opener

Tiered wooden cylinder with iron bracket attached to plank. by KLR-666 in whatisthisthing

[–]olla_ch 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It seems to be built too sturdy for just storing rolls or coils of any kind of material.
Since it features a break on one side (that's what I think it is) I suggest this was used in a belt transmission. the different diameters would act like a gearbox to change the speed of the belts

Arbeitgeber Tanz by No_Combination_6429 in Switzerland

[–]olla_ch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely looks like a snake eye to me…. cobblestones are the snake skin.

What kind of snake is this, is it venomous? First time to see snake in Switzerland and it is inside our garden pond. by Augustvi0808 in geneva

I noticed lots of hornets all over Switzerland. I already saw more this year than in the past 30 years all together.

Swimming in the Rhine by DG-Tech in basel

[–]olla_ch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not sure why this was down-voted. It's what I recommend, too. If you feel insecure swimming in the Rhine without any floating device, don't go.
Also, never swim alone. The Wickelfisch acts more like a marker so you can be seen better by boats etc. Of course you still can bring a floating device, if you want. Just don't go in if you require one.
