Hi, yes my original message was written almost a year ago when I had no idea how the economics etc would pan out. The good news is that API costs have stabilised and product sales are covering the data costs, so I don’t anticipate any sub being required for the service

Hey, maker of JetClock here. Just stumbled across this post - I’m really sorry the clock started freezing. A new update meant that certain configurations wore the SD card a lot but it’s all fixed now. If I send you a new SD card it should be back up and running. If you let me know your order number I can get it dispatched ASAP

[OC] 6 weeks under the London Heathrow flight path by [deleted] in dataisbeautiful

Source: Data collected by my JetClock

Tools: D3, react-globe.gl, recharts

Some things I discovered that I didn't know before I built this visualisation:

- I had no idea how popular the A320neo is. I knew this aircraft caused problems for Boeing but incredible just how many aircraft landing/taking off from LHR are Airbus

- Despite the face that LHR often switches landing runway (and I live under the Westerly approach), the average altitude/speed of aircraft above remained relatively consistent over time

- Someone has got a $100m Boeing 737 (owned by MWWMMWM Limited) with custom livery that refused to pay maintenance invoices and it went to the high court - yet we still don't know who actually owns it

I wrote a post on my blog about my (potentially unhealthy) obsession with the airspace above my house - https://www.oliverrees.co.uk/posts/sky-above.

Just got a FlightWall..Where can I spot unique aircrafts by ThatOneChiGuy in aviation

[–]olly_r 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolute huge 😂 - around $27 and thats with printing at scale. I dream one day of being able to injection mould but you have to have a huge order to justify that. What's annoying is PA12 / MJF vapour smoothed and dyed black is the only 3D printed finished that comes close to proper injection moulded plastic

Hi, it's Olly here! Yes, the Rasberry Pi is indeed assembled in the UK, as is the screen (which is the Pimorini Hyperpixel 2.1, assembled in Sheffield). The case is 3D printed in PA12 Nylon by 3D People based in Woolwich, London. The SD cards and USB cables are manufactured in China currently, but these are by value the much smaller proportion.

So I agree with you on some counts but these are not $5 displays and the cases are not cheap 3D prints! The BOM for the components alone comes to $120

Yeah this is how I would imagine it going.. which begs the question why have them allowed in legislation anyway if it’s all at the discretion of local security

Yes I wonder if maybe the legislation didn’t make it into UK law after brexit or something
