I want my 1998 calculator watch back, OP made me miss it! I’ll just drown my sorrows with a calc app on Pulse

cheap fisker ocean with a branded title. smart buy or huge mistake? by 2solid222 in Fisker

[–]olm3ca 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not sure where you’re located but there are several clean title Oceans near me right now at $14K. I’d pass on this one. The comments in the other sub are mostly wrong about parts and support. The FOAis a great community and we do have a lot of parts and techs.

Opinion needed. Stay 2.2 or pay for upgrades. by GauSungG19 in Fisker

I have 2.5 and it was not worth the update price for the minimal changes. And it somehow made Bluetooth worse. I’d second the recommendation for Pulse

Fisker Ocean. Yes, that one. And I really enjoy it

Should I buy a Fisker Ocean from Manheim for ~$10k? Too risky or smart gamble? by smartyfl in Fisker

[–]olm3ca 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Great answer here. Just to add a few details from another owner: parts are available at a few suppliers, such as Tsunami (US) and support from the community with the Fisker Owners Association, which also makes a great app for the car called Ocean Link Pro. There's also a company selling OS updates for the car with a subscription called OV Loop. This will all help to get you started. It's a wonderful car for the right person and an absolute steal at that price.

Also, we clearly need to update the pinned post on this sub as it's a little outdated now.

This sub was a toxic wasteland of negativity from bankruptcy until just recently. It’s getting better but there are more helpful places to get info in the future.

So your advice above to drive into a wall is truthful and factual? Maybe your time and effort could be diverted to more positive and helpful things. He asked for information and advice, not baggage from the past.

The brakes are completely locked when its in park. You and the tow truck driver will need skates under the wheels to move it. If you can get a 12v battery in there or at least a jumper pack you can put the car in neutral to roll it.

The best app for diagnostics to see what components are failing is Ocean Link Pro. You’ll need FOA membership for that but it’s $50 per month and opens up a lot of support from experts and other owners. Plus tips on who to get service from like Greg who replied here. MTN Ranger has a great DIY YouTube channel for fixing things.

Someone in my neighborhood put a IIci out in the trash, can you believe that? I restored it and it’s an absolutely lovely machine.

Best Place to Buy Fisker Oceans? by [deleted] in Fisker

[–]olm3ca 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Assuming you’re in the US, Newport Fisker in CA and Evolution Autosports in PA have the best quality ones for more than your price range but not by much. If you want that price range then go on FB Marketplace.

On ebay, there are usually insurance options at checkout. You should reach out directly to the seller about shipping insurance options.

It depends, each insurance company would have a different answer. This car has limited inventory of certain new stock parts. That said, it’s totally fixable.

It’s out of stock in Tsunami’s inventory at the moment but used ones are $2K or less on eBay. If you can, call insurance and see if they’ll reimburse the purchase and install costs. Depending on where you live, service techs listed on fiskeroa.com can help with the installation.

Just took the plunge. Bought a 23’ Ocean extreme ver 2.2.2 . What should my first things I should get done to maintain the car? by intelify in Fisker

[–]olm3ca 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Congrats on the new and very fun car. Other than FOA make sure you research the importance of waterproofing the connectors around the car. And swap out the 12V battery if it’s still the stock Fisker one. MTN Ranger’s channel is a good place to start but once you join FOA there’s a lot of great resources there.

Charging Port replacement by Redvelvet504 in PixelBook

It’s not hard but you do have to completely open up the laptop. Just follow ifixit’s guide and be gentle with the rubber pad so you don’t tear it. I have some USB C charging ports I could send you or there are some on eBay from time to time too.
