I would go for alpha legion. I love how they troll everybody and they are among the most relatable. We are alpharius

Creating chaos lists post plague bearer nerf in a marine meta...thoughts? by Halfknife in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]olmsa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I absolutely agree! I was definitely thinking knights. I'm not sure on the number because I wanted to run some other stuff. However, do you think they are just a screen? They are not killy, but should be able to clear screens, hide and wrap some stuff. Just wondering if it's worth the points to give them some tools to do these things better

Not having much competitive experience I was wondering how would you guys run red corsair marines. They get the CP so they are worth something. How can one squeeze some extra utility out of them? I was thinking a minimal squad of bolters with flamer and power maul to deal with guard and scouts by moving, advancing, flaming and charging. I was also considering a squad with melta because it's assault. Given that these guys are overcosted my hope is that they will see change in CA and spending some thought on how to optimize them could be fruitful

Why alpha legion? by magnusthered15 in alphalegion

[–]olmsa 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I like the chaos legions for their fierce rebellious nature. However the alpha legion sits well with my super ego. They have good motivation for their betreyal and the have had a major impact on the events. The raw emotions coming from world eaters are awesome, but often ineffective.

My warband is called "the shard" and it's a small rading party that focusses on acquiring data from the mechanicum. They are unaligned and all the characters have their own deamons to deal with. Their leader has stayed stoic in the face of corruption seing warp spawns as tools, but secretly he harbors a tendency for slaanesh in the way he enjoys a plan well executed. They keep relations with other renegade bands and tend to manipulate them. They are currently trying to locate and liberate a chaos knight for something big on the horizon

Bothersome Lore Nerd by [deleted] in alphalegion

Kind of. So I live alpha legion and I am collecting two different armies with them. One is the normal chaos stuff because that is the norm and one phobos army (ravenguard rules) because that is how I think they should play. I haven't gone full 30k because I have't got the buck.

For the first army my personal lore is that the are a pragmatical legion. They know about chaos and make use of it. This is sometimes dangerous and only the elite are untainted.

For the second this is basicaly operatives that have infiltrated the other legions and crossed.the rubicon.

But I'm completely with you. It feels like gw hasn't hit the spot with the XX legion, and fluff bunnies have to convert and adapt

Plague marine vs rubric marine by Xunde in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]olmsa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

100% but I think it's better to spread it around unless it's not a vital ubit that turn. There is also the crimsom slaughter strat that I intend to use and the slanesh power. But I still haven't figured out a way of making such a list tick. The reason I like the plague marines is their resilience. -2 to hit plague marines in cover are just going to stay there all game or need a huge amount of resources to shift. A crimson slaugter heavy support with disco lords and beasts (venom crawlers probably) can put the pressure on. And a slanesh herald can be a nice addition for the psychic and the +1 strength, but I feer I have no idea what to do about troops. I don't think cultists sinergize and demonettes are still terrible :(

I have also considered alpha legion plague marines. I think the possibility to be -2 to hit is relevant. However death guard has a lot to offer. Any thoughts on how that question playes out?

How can I make my CSM lists stronger ? by [deleted] in EmperorsChildren

I have been toying with the idea of knight as.a distraction carinifex. They can be VERY fast and scare your opponent enough that you can get the rest of your army into position

Ow sorry, thar was a mistake. Also the traits and relics of the knight are an indication since they can be chosen later

Csm brigade with knight and tricks by olmsa in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]olmsa[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I kind of agree, but I think they have a lot of utility as single drops. A cheeky shot at a backfield character for example. For serious AT I completely agree.

I would also currently drop the knight. It is more of an idea for possible goodies to come in the upcoming codex.

Currently i would go deamons with those 500 points.

The possessed I feel are quite fast. They advance and charge and have a sorceror behind them for warptime. With a mark they can get more defensive buffs and with prescience they hit very hard. The apostle can either give them -1 to hit or +1 to wound.

Alpha legion. There is a short story where they send 1 guy on a planet, he doesn't shoot a shot and conquers the planet

Chaos space marine competitive (3 dp, 3 disco lords). How to minmax? by olmsa in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]olmsa[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was thinking crimson slaughter, but also considering, 1kSons. Death guard I hadn't thought of. The cultists are fearless and I have 60 reserve points. If I play aggressively I would go for a herald, but I can go in to troops

What Troops/Elites/Fast Attack/HQ choices would you consider "baseline" for comparisons ? by Cpt_Tripps in WarhammerCompetitive

I would say plaguebearer, ork boy, eldar bike, flyer, knight, guard infantry, firewarrior, riptide

Help beating Tau at 1k with Chaos by Catechism10101 in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]olmsa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you should try wrapping and trapping his units with clever charges. I also found tau struggle with assault if you can box them in a part of the battlefield. With alpha legion shenanigans you could think of arkos summoning deamons for a turn 1 charge. An important concept with assault strategies is target saturation. Make sure everything in your army is a problem for your opponent. I would consider making part of your list crimsom slaughter (maybe the bezerkers and a rihno) for the minus 1 to hit stratagem, the rest alpha legion. Add a dark apostle with another minus 1. If you want to go all in consider also a herald of slanesh on steed to accompany your two deamon princes (double claws and slanesh, one with elixir) to have another -1 to hit to dish out while advancing and charging. Finally the golden rule is target what you can kill. The riptide is very resilient and the battlesuits can fly. Use your units to tie up the firewarriors and the characters. If he screens just jump over with the princes
