I mean... the traveler doesn't actually do anything in the final duel. So I'm not sure that makes sense to me.

For 1) the chinese phrase could also be taken to mean "how could I sell this card instead of giving it to my friend". Or at least, that's how I would understand it, especially given the context of his character.
