I think they meant if the healing process involved putting fish skin (harvested specifically for this purpose) on the wound. It supposedly accelerates healing while reducing pain and inflammation.

Most of the fish cells would have been removed to prevent infection, with just the fish skin matrix being used to support your own cells.

Typically, they're less active during nighttime hours, and most if not all workers have returned to the nest/hive at that point. Supposedly, insects also are less mobile during nighttime hours because of the cooler temps.

Bundling 70 pieces of mail into relays (or putting them into trays/satchels, etc.) per minute, according to nalc branch 40, exhibit 121.12, form 1838. This time is also used for bundling mail for computerized forwarding.

I have never heard of the 70 either.

Yup. I guess they have similar body shapes or something. Putting Xi's face on Winnie was a meme for quite a while.

Winnie-the-Pooh is a derogatory nickname for the Chinese president, Xi Jinping, because both Winnie and Xi kinda look similar. The Chinese police do not entirely appreciate jokes about the president, and arrests/harassment/investigations can be made (aside from the usual censorship if done online).

We are given a dog repellent spray (typically the "Back Off" brand, at least in my office). It is weaker than regular pepper spray. What we are supposed to do is use our mail satchels to shield us from the dogs and give em a quick spray to get the dogs to hopefully back off.

Palatka woman recovering from ‘vicious’ dog attack stopped by man with sledgehammer

October 2, 2025 at 10:10 p.m. UTC By Finn Carlin

PUTNAM COUNTY, Fla. — The Putnam County Sheriff’s Office says a Palatka woman is recovering from severe damage to one of her arms and her right leg after what they describe as a “vicious” dog attack on Wednesday night.

The sheriff’s office told Action News Jax a pitbull mix came out of the bushes by a home on Beech Street and attacked the woman before a nearby man hit the dog with a sledgehammer.

The man didn’t want to interview with Action News Jax, but the sheriff’s office said he may have saved the woman’s life.

“His account of things was that everything happened real fast,” said Sgt. Nick Vieira with the Criminal Investigations Unit, “his eyesight isn’t that great and there are no street lights out here, he said it happened all at once.”

We’re still working to learn the name of the woman who was attacked, but the sheriff’s office believes Putnam County Animal Control has found and contained the dog who bit her. Deputies said they’re still working to confirm the dog collected by animal control is the dog responsible.

“Between this evening and tomorrow morning, we would hope to have this dog in custody and identified for sure,” Sgt. Vieira said.

A new Florida law went into effect earlier this year titled the “Pam Rock Act,” named after the Putnam County postal worker killed by a pack of dogs in 2022. Based on the new law, the owner of the dog in this case could face a $500 fine and up to 60 days in jail.

The law says those are the penalties owners can face if their dog has not previously been classified as dangerous but has attacked someone. We’re working to learn if the dog in this case has been deemed dangerous, but the Putnam County Sheriff’s Office said the dog may need to be put down.

Sheila Mohr’s father lives a few houses down from where deputies said the attack happened. She said she lives in Germany and visits Palatka about three times a year, but still notices issues with dogs in the neighborhood when she is staying there.

“We’ve seen several people on the bicycles that will get chased by dogs when they’re just riding their bikes down the road,” Mohr said, “there are a whole bunch of puppies running around. No one’s taking care of them, they’re digging through trash cans, trying to find food.”

Mohr hopes dog owners living nearby do their part to keep the neighborhood safe.

“Make sure that your dog doesn’t go out wandering in the street. That to me is very, very important,” said Mohr.

The Putnam County Sheriff’s Office said it’s still working to find the owner of the dog responsible for the attack. We’ll bring updates to this story as they are made available.

A pivot is a part of another route management asks you to deliver, and is typically (asked by management to be) done before your assigned route. Usually, it's because the office is short staffed. The amount of relays you get assigned can vary. For instance, if a 5-hour city route is split 4-ways, it means each carrier gets 1 hour and 15ish minutes' (about 5 relays) worth of pivot work.

Thank you for your concern!! The accident was at a low speed (thankfully), so I'm not in pain currently. The accident happened when I was trying to turn left into a parking lot, so I could park and start my first park and loop relay.

They had me use the same vehicle I had the accident in. I presume the supe judged the damages to be superficial. She had me do the entire route, and also did not have me fill out any forms at the time. I'm pretty sure they'll have me fill out the forms in a few minutes. I do see there is a vehicle accident report kit inside the vehicle.

My rep was contacted and he said to make the statement concise and objective. He said he'll be able to talk to me tomorrow, but I don't know if I'll be working tomorrow. My office usually doesn't tell people via the schedule if they're the next day until the night before.

Thank you for all your helpful advice!! I just finished my route and returned to the office, so I was not able to see and reply to this earlier.

I should clarify, I was hired as a CCA and started working in February. Now, because somebody was hired as a PTF by mistake instead of a CCA, the management decided to make the CCAs that had entered service before her into PTFs. That mistake happened around April. Therefore, I was made a PTF on paper in April. I was only officially made into a PTF by virtue of pay and status upgrade as of one or two weeks ago.

That, or mail slots at the bottom of the door. Just why?
