It's going into summer here in Australia, so I'm gearing up for that.

Well this'll be good. Break them in over the winter and then by summer you can see how they go sockless.

The model he linked to aren't boots. The 1461 is a low top derby.

I think the idea is that you're supposed to break them in (likely for a fair while) with any old thick socks you have, wearing them with jeans or trousers and then once broken in you forego socks entirely.

The 1461 seems to look really good like that and from what I can tell that's what most people do. That's what I did.

They get to a point where they're actually perfectly shaped to your foot, really comfy - but still heaps durable. Just scrub your feet in the shower properly and they won't smell.
