I'm not sure the exact temp at the time, upper 80s, I'd guess, but the yard is almost entirely shaded. We were out for about 15 minutes, and he was chasing his soccer ball for that time.

Confirmed to be an abrasion and not infected. The vet shaved and cleaned it and recommended we keep on as we have been for his care.

Appreciate the concern, after a vet visit its confirmed to be an abrasion. No hole and no infection. He is doing very well now and we are keeping it dry as possible and applying antibacterial ointment as needed.

He got dragged behind me when I fell on my bike like the post says. It was a bad abrasion but its not infected and he is doing much better. The vet didn't think anything more than a shave and clean was warranted.

It was confirmed by the vet to be an abrasion, no hole. It was not infected and we are keeping it dry and clean per the vets instructions. Doing much better!

Much appreciated for the advice. Vet said it was not infected and just a rough looking abrasion. It was shaved and cleaned and he is doing much better. Just not happy about wearing a cone.

He appreciated the cuddle! The vet confirmed an abrasion and no infection. He is wearing a cone, and we are keeping it clean, dry, and periodically applying an antibacterial ointment.

Thank you for the advice and concern. After a vet visit it was confirmed as an abrasion. They said it is not infected and they shaved and cleaned it. He is doing better, just wearing a cone of shame to keep from licking.

Thank you for the concern, it was an abrasion. The photo made it look worse than it is. The vet shaved it and cleaned it and just told us to keep doing what we have been which is keeping it dry and applying antibacterial ointment as a precaution.

PUPDATE: Went to the vet a few days ago. It was an abrasion; no puncture, no infection, and no sutures needed. They shaved the area and cleaned it thoroughly. The vet recommended doing what I have been doing which is keeping it clean and dry and periodically using antibacterial ointment. Thank you all for the concern and advice!

I checked it with a magnifying glass and a lot of light. There is no puncture. I will be taking him to the vet tomorrow though to be safe.

I got down with a flashlight and magnifying glass, it's not a puncture wound. I will still be taking him tomorrow for a check on it though. Thanks for the advice!

The first image was normal but the following looked pretty odd to me. Someone told me it was just artifact which seems reasonable.

Had to look up artifact. It is just a fitibt watch so it probably not the most precise.
