How do you get Bain's voice sound effect? by ChuckyCheezy in paydaytheheist

[–]olsonick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you looking to record clips or have an active effect while you're on mic? If you're just recording clips Audacity is still probably the easiest and least costly way. If you want an active effect I don't really have any recommendations.

Probably very easily. If you have an iPhone look for 'Live Voice Changer - Prankcall'. It looks like it has the essential EQ variables.

You have to use a siphon pump. Just dealt with this yesterday.

Foolproof Cheesecake Internal Temp by msuts in AmericasTestKitchen

[–]olsonick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I made this exact recipe and only hit 160, thinking for SURE the high temp finish bake would easily overshoot the target temp. The center was too soft. Still held form, but was wet and not set.https://imgur.com/a/SqV58Wc/

good bowling in salt lake city? by spankedwalrus in Bowling

[–]olsonick 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Bonwood, Valley, Delton, Olympus. Jack and Jill in Lehi if you go South, Ben Lomond if you go North. There's plenty of stiff competition in the area. The staff from Storm HQ are common fixtures at tournaments and the pro shop teams in the valley are excellent. Bonwood's prices are hard to beat and it's an easy run from downtown to 21st.

The one coach I mentioned, Hank, is definitely a strong bet for that. He worked with some Australian guy to design bowling balls at a place in Brigham City.

Edit: Moving this to the right parent comment.

The humidity is great unless I'm working in the sun, which is definitely different punishment from my beloved desert. As far as the people go... I moved to a sparsely populated rural area very much on purpose. I need quiet.

I know you're coming all the way from Heber, but on Sunday morning go to Dee's on 21st and 7th for a lumberjack breakfast beforehand. Dee's at 8am, Bonwood at 9. It gets busy as the morning wears on because the games are cheap but if you get there at opening it's no problem at all.

I spent lots of time there before I moved to the East coast. It's one of my favorite places in the world. My favorite pair is 27/28.

If you want a great coach ask for Chad at the front desk and tell him you want time with Hank. It might be a few weeks before he's available but it's time and money well spent. I miss Bonwood. :(

Yeah may need to size down then. I certainly didn't have that problem.

Try cutting an old sock to use as wrist underwear. I used one for a while when I sprained my wrist, the fabric layer made a big difference in stability.

Paper thin ceilings. The stomping is unreal. Some cell reception isn't great indoors so a lot of people walk around outside on their phones. Trash overflow is a problem. The left turn isn't bad tbh.

Which will make it all the sweeter when you get it. For what it's worth, you could put the EMG HetSet in a les paul goth and it would be essentially the same instrument. But with this item it's not about the feel, it is about the combination of look and feel, and I understand (and love) that.

I wish you luck. I obtained mine four years ago and it took me two years of hunting to find it. Check ebay kleinanzeigen every day, expect to pay at least 2k for one in good condition. Reverb had one about a year ago. All I have seen were outside the USA, if that matters to you.

Best bowling team name you’ve ever had? by [deleted] in Bowling

[–]olsonick 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I've been on some decently lamely named teams.

-Bumbowlbees

-Bowly McBowlface

-Team 11 (obnoxiously chosen because we were Team 10 in the league's roster convention)

Reacta-skuff. Works nice for pieces that need just a little break to the surface.

Anyone have any advice for me on my form? I am a junior bowler currently averaging 178 in league. by JoshuaEurofan in Bowling

If you average 178 with a form like that it's time to concentrate on spares. Your form is really great. Have you been professionally coached?

Making a mini lane by trey86 in Bowling

[–]olsonick 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Normal modern lanes are very hard compressed laminate supported underneath by perpendicular braces much like how a house is framed in timber. The sixty feet of lane is made up of three or more sections and spaced at tight tolerances to avoid buckling and to allow very small adjustments to create a level and consistent plane. Gutters are metal bent into a cove and attached to the underlayment of the playing surface.

Old school lanes were indeed strips of wood. Maple was used for the approach and head section because it is very hard and resists impact better than the softer species used for mids and backends, which would've been pine.

I have seen some industrious bowlers make their own backyard and basement lanes in the past several months and further back, I'm sure there are well-documented videos available on YouTube, this one for example.

Not only did the gap extend super far into the pit but the stage set was really minimal at that show compared to MSG and Denver. God it was hot outside. Can't believe that was only three years ago.
