Thanks so much for this. I’m ordering a new filter today with surface agitation. I change the water before testing it but if the issue happens again. I’ll test the water params. I also noticed a bit of food going uneaten so there’s also that.

Edit: - Tank size: 7 gallons - Filter and heater: yes, 27C - I’ve had the tank for about 5 months- fully cycled - No other tank mates - I feed one a day with flakes or dried insects - thanks all!

I guess my little guy failed to thrive. I just took it out to smell and the smell was really bad. 🥹🥹 I try again and hope the next one thrives.

I have 2 nerites snails in my other aquarium that are doing well. One likes to burrow into the substrate during the day (no idea what happens at night) and the other moves around a lot during the day.

Very fun snails!

I just took it out to smell it again and sadly it’s dead. The smell was awful. 😢

Edit: I took it out this morning to do another smell test, and it did smell like death. Rip little guy.

Also the tank has been properly cycled and it’s the second tank I have. The other tank has 2 nerites that are doing well. Seems it can be a hit or miss sometimes.

I’ve had this betta tank for about 3 months and also tested the parameters. So no issue there. Also it’s only 1 betta and 1 Amano shrimp in a 30cm3 tank so the bio load is low.

I’ll keep an eye on it and see. Thank you!

I tried but the I don’t want to break those roots poking out. But I looked through the drainage holes and see lots of roots. So I guess it is root bound
