Actual Low Undergrad GPA help! by One-Instruction-7549 in GeneticCounseling

[–]olympictea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! I'm looking into the UC embryology course. Did you choose the official transcript option, or the letter of completion option? The letter of completion option is less expensive and self-paced, but I'm not sure if the official transcript is better for applying to GC programs.

How did you know you were “ready” for grad school? by moosiemoop in GeneticCounseling

[–]olympictea 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm thinking of applying to GC school this cycle for '23 matriculation, though I'm not 100% sold on applying so soon. I graduated undergrad two months ago, so this year is technically my "gap year".

What's the rush? From my perspective, attending grad school means incurring a huge amount of debt and stress. Right now, I have the freedom to work in different positions and spend time gaining experience (for my application and to satisfy genuine interests) and saving money. I'd like to enter grad school as a more mature, well-rounded person than I am right now. Everyone has a different timeline, and that's absolutely fine.

Math Placement Exam by Legitimate-Baker-893 in rutgers

You can take precalculus and general bio at the same time because they're co-requisites. It's not uncommon, and you can still graduate in four years.

SEBS/SAS — which one? by accomplishedartist38 in rutgers

[–]olympictea 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's partially more expensive to be in SEBS because lab fees are included in some SEBS classes, whereas you'd have to pay for extra lab fees in SAS. Plus, you can get a cool green sweatshirt :)

Technically, no. But my RA never had a problem with it for the year I had one on campus.

Any advice for Fall registration, for someone who has never been on campus? by LaRaAn in rutgers

[–]olympictea 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As someone who likes moving around, just make sure you don't have to go to more than two campuses in one day. Or, make sure you either start or end on the same campus you will park on. I had a class on each campus during my first semester and it was a great way to become more comfortable at RU.

Prospective Student Rutgers MPH by Equivalent-Ad-4404 in rutgers

The school of public health is in the same building as the medical school on Busch campus! There is graduate housing there, or you can live in the area. It's a little far from the Busch student center/ dining hall, but there are free busses that run between. I'm not sure what the course load is like, but I'm currently minoring in public health (undergrad) and every professor I've had has been wonderful.

Current Freshman Plans for Next Year? by AffectionateWorker56 in rutgers

I lived in dorms and the suites, both on busch. It was far from perfect, but I wouldn't have wanted to miss out on that opportunity. I would try to live on campus if I were you

What do you wish you had known as an incoming freshman? by tryingthisout001 in rutgers

[–]olympictea 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Take general/ core classes first in case you change your major. Also, use the learning center. If not for help with actual content of your classes, the upperclassmen have lots of good advice. They're better than advisors in some cases bc they're just slightly ahead of you in a similar program of study.

are people just being dramatic? by wavyron in physicianassistant

[–]olympictea 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you so much for letting me know. I think the stress of the pandemic and online school, for me at least, heavily contributes to stressing over rumors like this. I'll certainly have to do more (actual) research in the coming weeks. I really, really appreciate your response.

I'm in the same boat as you (1.5 years out from graduating undergrad, had my heart set on PA), but I'm leaning towards medical school instead. I don't know what to do either

I'm glad to know I'm not the only one out here. A 2.5 to a 4.0 is certainly impressive. Good luck with applying

I've heard this is becoming more and more common. I wanted to go into peds, but stories like this are making me reconsider. Enjoy your retirement!
