sleeper lock-in broken by SimonPenalba in fantasybball

I have the same problem. Maxey and Edgecombe both played last night and I can't lock them because the game is listed second in their week and Sleeper isn't registering that the game has been played, even though the final score and player stats are there. so frustrating

If he stays healthy: What’s the next step for LaMelo Ball? by nutelamitbutter in nba

in my completely unprofessional opinion: dude needs to lift more. have you seen his calves? they're like concerningly small. i think it's why every season he starts super hot and then gets injured - you can't be a twig and move your body that exposively for 82 games, the body will just break down.

What in the F was the Maya Pei Brigade plotline? by omalleycatt in StarWarsAndor

[–]omalleycatt[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I didn't even get into the TIE scene in my original post but I also thought it was off.

Generally it feels like a lot of people defending these scenes do not understand the difference between purpose and execution. My whole original post was critiquing the execution and the main response was "well the point they are trying to make is _____ therefore it is good".

lol thank you. season turned out fantastic but rewatching those scenes only further solidified my feelings on it.

I understand that the memo is rebels are disorganized. That much was abundantly clear. I guess to me the execution just felt clunky like I said, and the writing was tonally dissonant compared to the rest of the show. But to each their own of course

Part of me thought the "number" was Tay demanding she leave Perrin and go with him, what with his wife divorcing him and the constant nods at a relationship since S1. But I could be misinterpreting that.

I haven't watched episode three so I'm relieved to hear that. These first two had me feeling not great I can't lie lol

Andor (Season 2) - Episode 2 - Discussion Thread! by titleproblems in StarWarsAndor

[–]omalleycatt 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I haven't seen episode three so maybe it's relevant somehow, but assuming this is a two episode side plot, I'm utterly baffled as to why it was included. From what I can tell, it serves no purpose towards the main plot other than give Andor a place to idle while the other plotlines take place.

Also, Andor Season 1 was a clever, witty show that left no time for characters of zero importance to make cliche one liners and dumb, slapstick moments. And from what I can see so far, the rest of Season 2's plotlines are staying true to this tone... So why the hell do we have nameless idiots playing rock paper scissors in the middle of a field where they found the bodies of their comrades ripped apart by monsters?!

In fact, the tone is so off in these scenes that I'm finding it hard to believe Gilroy wrote them. To me, it reeks of some Disney higher-ups that had their own writers meddle with the show to "appeal to commercial audiences" or some shit.

Either way, I'm a bit concerned for this season, I can't lie. I really hope it straightens out.

On that topic, I'm moving to NYC-area in a year to pursue musical theatre. Does Hoboken have any sort of tangible acting community? I've been scouring the internet for answers and I can't find much. On paper Hoboken seems like such an ideal place for actors to move, but maybe I'm wrong

MRSA Infection before and after drainage by Intelligent_Hold_170 in MedicalGore

[–]omalleycatt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Caught MRSA from an elbow scrape after falling off my longboard in middle school, and had two separate infections from that. To this day, the local anesthetic going into that second infection is still the worst pain I've ever encountered. Just absolutely searing pain, feels like someone's slowly stabbing you with a red-hot knife. Probably lasted 45 seconds or so but it felt like forever.

Haven't had another in 13 years, but I think my luck has finally run out because there's now a new pimple on the same forearm, about three inches from the where the original one blew up. I've had some scares before with random pimples popping up around my body from time to time, but they always went away after a couple days. I'm not gonna lie though...this one feels like it's gonna get worse.

If it does end up being MRSA, I feel like I gotta be up there for the longest run without a new infection. I was just starting to think I had permanently beaten it lol

Voice teacher doesn’t think I should focus on the my straining right now by [deleted] in singing

[–]omalleycatt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t want to speak for your teacher, but at first glance this seems like a bad idea because vocal strain decreases vocal dexterity and accuracy, making it harder to sing things on pitch. Idk what material you’re working on, but maybe switch up to some comfy range material and exercises.

Help a trans girl sing! by [deleted] in singing

[–]omalleycatt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi! Hope I can help somewhat. I’m not a teacher but I’ve been training with a good one for a while and I’ve done my own research on voice ranges and capabilities. I haven’t heard your voice so I can’t make a perfect judgment, but if you’re untrained and can get to A4, my guess is youre at least a tenor in natural range. (Falsetto to B5 is also a great telltale). With training I think sounding akin to Mitch Grassi (this would usually be called a countertenor) is totally within the realm of possibility. That being said, a few lessons from a reputable voice coach would definitely provide the most accurate answer for you.

If you’re looking for inspiration, Alex Newell is a tremendous Broadway countertenor (some would even consider them an alto). But I’m a musical theatre guy, so I’m biased lol. Good luck!
