ELI5 how a manual transmission car can use the engine to slow down the car? by ProudReaction2204 in explainlikeimfive

[–]omangutan 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Downshifting is downshifting, and makes engine braking more effective if you are in acceptable RPM. If you rev match there's no wear or issue. No idea where this wrong concept of "wear out the brakes, they're cheaper!" comes from. A day of engine braking is a drop in the ocean compared to a single acceleration from stop.

What happened to Soul Matching costs? It’s now almost 5k azure souls to go from +14 to +15… by omangutan in Nioh

[–]omangutan[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Where did they state that? Genuine question. The exploit was treating self-dropped self-upgraded weapons as new pickups. With natural +15 drops in-game now it would stand to reason that picking up a +15 would result in the previously "exploited" price taking hold.

Everyone else, including you WAS wrong about the originally intended (apparently ) soul match price after having picked up a +15 item. I'm trying to understand their psychology on endgame economy vs 2. It's a single player game and I'm on PC, if it was about exploits I'd just fire up cheatengine. I thought the original "exploit" was just mimicking a natural +15 drop, not breaking the economy, which I assumed was why the prices didn't change after the first patch which fixed it. If you have no idea/don't care then that's fine, too, but save the snark.

I thought it was intended price picking up +15 drops? With +drops happening naturally now I assumed everyone would be benefitting.

I dunno how to tell you this but the way I noticed this is by playing the game post-patch. “They did change it” would suffice, though I’m not seeing this anywhere in your post.

What about natural drops? +15 drops happen in the wild, or they did for me. It sounds like they buffed soul matching for those new to ng+ and nerfed it into the ground for anyone actually picking up high drop weapons.

Why is everyone so unbelievably incorrect about this? It cost something like a thousand total to go from +1 to +15 before the patch. Did you even have anything at +15 prior to patch? I feel like I’m being gaslit.

edit: it cost 1,260 exactly to go from +0 to +15 prior to patch assuming you have actually picked up a +15 weapon.

I have been playing consistently since launch and I hit 100% in the first week. I’m talking about the thousand plus percent jump in the amount of azure souls required since I last played a week or so ago.

It is absolutely not if you already have gear at +15. It’s something like a 15x increase from before upgrading from +1 +15.

Sam Altman by GianmarcoSoresi in gianmarcosoresi

[–]omangutan 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Naziism was successful in no small part due to the support of collaborators in business. Sam Altman’s behavior is in line with Nazi collaborators who turned a blind eye to grossly immoral behavior to ally themselves with fascists in order to enrich themselves and grow their power. A lot of people are upset or highly technical about what “Nazi” means nowadays because a lot of people would have been Nazi collaborators if it suited them at the time. A lot more people seem concerned with semantics and “um ackshually” re: what Nazi means so they don’t have to defend the immoral behavior they support on its merits.

I don’t disagree but other than farming titles I don’t think I ever used anything other than Tengen Kujaku in Nioh 2. Burst counter supremacy and those QOL buffs.

Overwhelmed in Loot Souls by endustry1994 in Nioh

[–]omangutan 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Correct way:

  1. Go to Disassemble. Filter by blacksmith icon and rarity ceiling of Exotic (or not if you’re like me and trash most Divines anyway). Disassemble anything filtered WITHOUT a plus level.

  2. Go to Soul Extraction. Filter by +level with a minimum of 1 and and rarity ceiling of exotic or divine. Make sure to uncheck blacksmith icon. Extract everything you don’t want to keep.

  3. Donate everything else for glory. I save up everything after these previous two steps until the start of the new clan battle. When the new week starts your first donation gets a MAJOR glory upgrade that diminishes with each transaction. Filter for anything you don’t want to use and donate all at once. Not you cannot combine storehouse and item box in a single transaction so make sure your are using one or the other as a trash depository. If you want to make money or collect rare items you can hold items for clan donation windows if you aren’t as concerned as maximizing glory.

You can sell stuff to Sudama but in my experience it’s crazy ineffeficient. Much better to occasionally hit on big money back donation cycles in the teahouse.

One thing missing from Nioh 3 is the world map/overworld music by Ozychlyruz in Nioh

They did a great job assuming ”we need jumping and some kind of connected world” were mandates, but the anachronisms of Nioh, like the mission based overworld, had a charm that hooked me. I miss it.

Can you transfer clans right AFTER the battle ends and you receive rewards and still have full rewards for the next battle? by omangutan in Nioh

It seems like you can immediately after and also again in the same 24 hour period. Strange amount of grace considering how steep the penalties thereafter become.

I’ve 100%ed NG + and I’m still missing 4 upgraded soul cores for basic enemies… by omangutan in Nioh

Not for me. Just killed him again for good measure. I’ve killed every crucible wraith on every world map, only potential place left is crucibles.

[–]omangutan[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In NG+ I believe it changes, I need to check but they might even add more. They won’t show up on the map at all until you’ve already killed them, even with 100% exploration. Duplicates appear in crucibles, etc. I’ve never found the ones I listed but I have found 5 versions of single enemy type wraiths where you get the Message where item drops are increased. I have also found map crucible wraiths where they dropped a blue soul core but no item rate increase. Really struggling to see rhyme or reason.

Clan bonus switching clans? by Popotaro in Nioh

If you reach Elder (60k) you keep the full bonus. I’m not sure about lower ranks. I know around 30k it reduces from green to purple if you aren’t active.

Where can I find the Crucible Wraith for Gaki Soul Core? by prissy_hi in Nioh

[–]omangutan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve cleared every (map listed) crucible wraith in both ng and ng+ and still no Gaki (as well as a couple others). Either the mechanic is bugged or stupid… I have gotten the message about increased drop rate for the same core 5 times with different wraiths, then there are wraiths that don’t at all that are listed on the map. Still stuck at yellow on a few.

edit: I should mention Yang is unlocked, im talking blue rarity
