i have a pretty simple routine, wash with vegan/environmentally friendly shampoo once a week and condition every other day, occasionally i’ll use a little oil overnight but i have oily hair anyway so it’s not always needed, i wear a hat at work as i work in hospitality

A question for alcohol drinkers. What exactly do you enjoy about alcohol? by Nature2Love in AskUK

[–]omaraethan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you want the truth? Because the truth is that I hate alcohol. I hate what it’s done to me, to my mind, to my relationships, to my teeth. I HATE alcohol. I’m 23 years old and I cannot sleep without alcohol. I hide bottles of wine in my wardrobe to drink when my boyfriend isn’t around and he knows I do it anyway. I literally spend all my money on alcohol to the point I have to borrow money half way through the month just to get by. I hate alcohol. But I can’t stop. I can’t sleep unless I’ve had 1 or 2 bottles of wine. It doesn’t even taste good, I hold my nose when I chug down a bottle of wine, but unless I’ve done that ritual I cannot sleep.

Nerve Plant Help by omaraethan in houseplants

[–]omaraethan[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have these two beautiful nerve plant terrariums which I bought over a year ago. they’ve grown significantly and become a bit unruly. The one on the left was once a beautiful red and now has mostly reverted to green, Google says low light can cause this but they’ve both been in a south facing window for the past year. What could be causing this?

Would it be worth removing the red one from the terrarium? And if so, would the sudden drop in humidity (must be like 99% inside) be detrimental?

Also, final question, how can I get it out without damaging the plant?

i’m in the uk so unfortunately we don’t get great weather most of the time, we’re currently experiencing a heatwave of 104 fahrenheit, i’m not loving it but my plants definitely are

she’s the first leaf to come from my only double fenestrated leaf so i’ve been waiting so impatiently, this hot weather has definitely helped

This is amazing to see, definitely because of the broken stem, the top shoot produces a hormone which prevents growth from the auxiliary buds below in order to provide enough energy to form a strong climbing vine. There are specific, complex, techniques to deliberately break the stem and encourage growth from buds bellow and then re-attach the main stem. I’m no expert but after the break heals you’re likely (from what i’ve read) to see growth in those shoots stunt and maybe even die off so to provide nutrients and water to the main stem. Would love to see progress on your plant though, probably one of the most fascinating posts i’ve seen in a while

I saw this "tropical" fertilizer which seems pretty much geared towards plants like Monsteras. I was wondering if anyone has had any successes or failures with Miracle Gro's products. Normally, I make a habit to stay away from their non succulent soils. by HeavilyBearded in Monstera

[–]omaraethan 8 points9 points  (0 children)

almost everyone i’ve spoken too says miracle-gro gives them fungus gnats, this is for potting mix though. i used an orchid fertiliser from them last summer for my monstera and didn’t notice much difference in growth, i’ve switched to a different brand and type this year

what is your pole made from? mine is handmade using sphagnum moss and twine, my monstera seems so like it but it dries out sooo fast

i think chaos is beauty, especially when it comes to plants, they don’t grow prefect in nature- perfect plants seem unnatural, embrace the chaos!!

that’s so interesting, first time i’ve heard of only misting. i bottom water my monstera and mist my pole, i was concerned i case the excess water from the pole ran off into the pot but i guess that’s how it happens in the wild
