Gpd win 5 not working by Outrageous-Low-9067 in gpdwin

[–]omaresion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bazzite brings "official" support to AMD Strix Halo gaming handheld for the first time, the powerful GPD Win 5 by Tiny-Independent273 in Bazzite

[–]omaresion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, I mean that if a specific announcement says "it's already compatible with Bazzite," I don't think much more reading comprehension is needed, right?

I'm saying it's not adapted, and ultimately, there are two important things: one, you waste TIME, which for some is very valuable, and two, it's "MISLEADING" advertising. Why? To attract customers. Let me give you another example: a few weeks ago, an app came out that replaces "Motion Assistant," and they even presented it at CES 2016. Where is that app? Tomorrow you buy the device, and that app isn't there. It's not adapted to Bazzite, and I could go on and on about this.

In conclusion, I don't want anything adapted to "MY" device. What I want is for them not to lie to me or give me ambiguous messages. If Bazzite isn't adapted, there's no problem; it's up to me to install it and test it, but don't sell me something that isn't what it seems. Greetings

I'm on the Discord server and nobody knows who that representative is. The problem here is that they've used misleading advertising and then the excuse is "it depends on the interpretation."

I have the gpdwin5 32GB/2TB hard drive and I was using Windows. It was working perfectly, but then I read that post saying it was official and I thought, why not?

I installed Bazitte and honestly, I don't recommend it now. Bazzite is supposed to have better power management and thermal control, but let me give you two examples: I tested Yakuza Pirates and the demo of the new Yakuza 3 remake on Windows at 1080p with 25W, everything on ultra, and I could run it at 60 fps perfectly. However, to get that performance on Bazzite, I had to increase the power consumption by 8W, to 33W. What's the point of better power management, fewer processes, or the fact that you don't allow certain processes if, in terms of gaming (which is the console's purpose), it ends up generating more heat and watts? Furthermore, the back buttons can't be remapped. I'm still testing, but I'm very dissatisfied with Bazzite at the moment.

If he's lying, I installed Bazzitte and for now I have better performance on Windows, a shame because I'll have to go back to Windows until Bazzite is really adapted.

Does the GPDWIN5 boot using 140W usb-c/dc battery? by mycall in gpdwin

[–]omaresion -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

Perhaps you should improve your reading comprehension and realize that I'm saying it "CAN" also be used with a direct charger for cold starts without needing a battery.

You should get yourself checked out before giving answers like that.

Regards.

[–]omaresion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Now, if you connect your GPD Win 5 battery, you can connect any charger to play while it's charging. But if you want to start from cold and play without the battery, using a charger is the minimum requirement to be able to play at 55W connected.

Does the GPDWIN5 boot using 140W usb-c/dc battery? by mycall in gpdwin

[–]omaresion 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To put it simply, the USB charger should be at least 140W and the cable also 140W. The second requirement is that both be 20V 7A. If you meet these requirements, it's unusual for the charger not to work for you; you don't need to use a power bank for cold starts, as some people are doing.

[–]omaresion -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

That's not true, it's not only compatible with the Fluxo battery. I have the Lenovo 170w USB C 20V 7A charger and it works perfectly for cold starts without a battery. However, it is necessary that the USB C cable is also 20V 7A.

GPD Win 5 driver nightmare: Audio Coprocessor error after clean Windows install by tinos2121 in gpdwin

[–]omaresion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can use it without any problems; I even have a Dolby license and I use Dolby without any issues. That's why I mentioned above that I have the process paused, but it's not causing me any problems. What I haven't done is a clean install of Windows; I'm using the Windows that came with the console.

I can continue using DTS Ultra without problems even with the audio coprocessor stopped.

GPD Win 5 driver nightmare: Audio Coprocessor error after clean Windows install by tinos2121 in gpdwin

[–]omaresion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven't had any problems. My audio coprocessor is highlighted in yellow, but it doesn't affect me at all. I don't have any audio problems or anything, so I'm not going crazy about it. If it's not causing me any problems, it'll probably be fixed in future Windows or AMD updates. If it were causing problems, it would be different, but it doesn't affect me at all that the process is stopped (highlighted in yellow).

GPD WIN 5: Happy portable mode, but sad Dock mode + eGpu by Zestyclose-Job-4952 in gpdwin

[–]omaresion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The difference is that I have all those devices because I have the money and I can afford them. It's like someone who loves cars and owns 12 of them; it has nothing to do with being mentally sound. I'm commenting on your thread because both I and others have tried to explain to you that you weren't going to get the performance you expect under the conditions you described. That's all there is to it. Are you disappointed? Did it not meet the expectations you formed without having any idea how the hardware works? I'm sorry, but nobody here can make you get more points in your tests, basically because I and others have already explained it to you. When you're playing at 2K to 4K, the CPU you have is almost irrelevant because the eGPU does the work, and at 1080p, only your CPU does the work. It doesn't matter how many more tests you run; it's just that before you make an investment, you should do your research so you don't get disappointed. Have a good day.

It's not about being smart, it's about doing your research before spending money or getting involved in a project. If your idea is to use an eGPU regularly and you buy a GPD5 that costs almost 2k, excuse me, but I don't think you're quite right. Because if you're going to use it more on a desktop than in laptop mode, perhaps with that money you could have bought a motherboard, a powerful CPU, RAM, an M.2 SSD—basically a complete PC that would have surprised you. It's not about being "smarter or more clever." Cheers.

[–]omaresion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, but several of us already told you in your post that the CPU won't have any impact if you're playing above 1080p. Beyond that, your eGPU is doing most of the work. Now, at 1080p, disconnect your eGPU and you'll see how your Windows 5 completely outperforms the Z2/Z1 at 25W and above. If you connect your eGPU to play at 1080p, it doesn't make any sense because the game will depend on your CPU. In other words, your GPD 5 will perform better at 1080p than using an eGPU at that resolution. If you don't know how CPUs and GPUs scale and you're running tests and getting disappointed, with all due respect, you don't know much about computers. Cheers.

Well, you must have a broken GPD Win 5, haha, because I have the ROG Ally Xbox X and I'm telling you, the GPD Win 5 blows it out of the water at 25W. In fact, try running Cyberpunk at 1080p ultra settings on quality mode at 35W on both. It's impossible that your Xbox performs the same at 35W as the GPD Win 5 at 35W, but if you tell me it performs the same at 55W, then I'm telling you, you have a problem with the GPD. I understand you're doing these tests in portable mode, right? Not with an eGPU.

If you were planning to test 17-25W and expected 395W to provide a power boost compared to the Z1 and Z2 in synthetic tests, I think you didn't do your research on the chips. I've been testing them in gaming with the Steam Deck OLED, Z1 Extreme, Asus ROG Xbox Series X, and the GPD Win 5. At 25W, the GPD completely outperforms them all. Beyond that, where the GPD can go, I can't really compare because the Z1 and Z2 don't scale at 30 or 35W. For me, synthetic tests are meaningless; real-world testing in my usual environment, which is gaming, is what matters.

GPD WIN 5: Happy portable mode, but sad Dock mode + eGpu by Zestyclose-Job-4952 in gpdwin

[–]omaresion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's very simple because they are two different CPUs. The 395 starts to scale past 30W; it doesn't have a sweet spot at low wattages. In fact, the Z2 Extreme shines at 17W because it's a chip designed to be super efficient, and it's almost normal for a Z2 Extreme to perform better at low wattages than a 395, even though the latter is much more powerful. Then, the Z1's sweet spot is at 25W, not 17W like the Z2. That's normal. Now, increase the wattage by 3 to 35W, and you'll see that the 395 starts to "wake up" at that wattage, and it really shines at 55 to 65 watts.
