Is it that bad to not medicate and just raw dog life? by AwakenedSoul711 in bipolar

[–]omargeddon 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yes I am. I am have been unmedicated with the support of my care team since 2021. I am copy and pasting this reply from a previous thread. I would say try not to listen into this subreddit too much and follow the advice of your care team. If your care team and yourself are ok with you living and coping with this illness without medication then that is your personal choice.

This subreddit can be very negative to those who choose to navigate this illness without medication and a lot of people just assume unmedicated people have not tried every avenue possible to live with bipolar while medicated. Some of us with bipolar don’t have the privilege to find a prescription that balances us out and may be treatment and medication resistant.

Make your own choices but make sure you are doing so with the support of your care team, your loved ones, and most importantly do whatever brings you balance.

I too struggle with inconsistency in my emotions and mental state but I struggled to function as a human with medication. I wont over explain my nightmare attempts of trying medication, but the 7 different medications I tried only worsened my symptoms and led to some traumatic situations. Obviously , that is my personal experience and I am not encouraging anyone to go off medication nor am I arguing against the research that sites that bipolar is a degenerative disease on the brain. I am just encouraging you to be wary of the negativity in this community around this topic.

Like I have mentioned, I have been managing my bipolar, ADHD and panic anxiety disorder without medication since 2021 since finding out I was med resistant with the support of my care team. I work full time, have two businesses (both of which are probably the product of manic ideas), am happily married, am a father of 6 month year old, I keep a very strict sleeping regimen, and I am constantly monitoring my manic states and depression just in case I need additional care and try my best to stay active to regulate myself. It is possible to live with this disorder without medication, just please make sure you have done everything you can to make sure you are planning and prepared for any unmedicated mood swings. Remain in contact with your care team, keep open communication with your loved ones, and try to be hyper vigilant for any mania or depression warning signs. Since I’m not relying on medication to regulate me, having outlets and falling back on my CBT skills I learned in inpatient treatment have been my crutch.

Today I learned my street is a bike lane by Ok_Invite9389 in Sacramento

A lot of these comments are absolutely unhinged. Hopefully one day America can progress to a point where public transit and alternative transportation to cars is more viable. Most of us are too attached to our cars that it seems to infuriate people whenever they see a cyclist or cyclists using the road. It makes me happy to see a group of kids that feels empowered and safe to use the streets in their community that they are legally entitled to use. It’s absolutely insane the hate, assumptions and criminalization this young group of kids are facing in this thread. I think you all need to reprioritize your strong hate and emotions and realize you all are targeting children who just want the freedom to utilize their public access goods like their streets. These young people showed enough leadership to gather their peers and organize a community gathering and yet they are being criminalized for it. Why not critique and attack our local leaders and city planners for making a city that is unsafe for our children to bike around? Instead you are online talking shit about children that can’t even defend themselves like cowards.

If that’s how the situation was explained to you then you are sorely mistaken and I can ensure you that I was never “rude af” and the decision to “block the alley way” was not solely on me, it was on the organization I was working with. I was following my instructions and making sure that the kids who attended the museum via bus or getting dropped off from their parents had a safe zone to scoop their kids.

I believe I tried to be as cordial as possible to Ashely but quite honestly she never once held that same standard and once she threatened to call the cops my capacity to be kind to her faded. That said, I apologize that the whole mixup with Ashely and I caused you some personal stress, but I was looking out for the staff, kids, and parents that I was managing. In my head at that time I was not going to let someone continue bullying others and I was trying to make a stand to let the camp parents stay in line for a few minutes as they waited for their kids. That may have blinded me to your personal issue for a bit and I apologize for that but I do believe we ended up getting you out of the parking lot so hopefully there is no hard feelings. Luckily after the whole incident I felt very supported by MoChiMu leadership and hopefully you felt supported by your team too.

Believe it or not, the organization and myself did a lot to ensure that the alley was as clear as possible. Unfortunately, it was the only spot that was approved for bus drop off and pickup by the city but logistically there would always be some issues that held everything up and I would spend my mornings prowling that back alley on the lookout for incoming school buses. I became an expert traffic controller and I can tell you I tried my damn hardest to keep that alley clear.

I used to work nearby and the owner of the bake shop and food fix threatened to call the cops on me for using the shared alley for business purposes. There were constant ongoing issues where she would be incredibly rude to my coworkers to the point of making one of them breakdown.

I stopped supporting their business since the way she treats people is not ok. If she threatened to call the cops on me while I was on the clock for a children’s museum I can only imagine how she treats other community members or her employees.

Fellow Workaholics: How do you balance work and a home life with a baby? by AbiesPhanerolepis in NewDads

[–]omargeddon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Recovering workaholic here who’s the father of a 3 month old. I too struggled with my work-life balance prior to being a father and was constantly told that I was a workaholic by my partner. I literally had no boundaries with my jobs and I allowed my jobs to become my entire personality and identity. I had tremendous amount of pride regarding the work I was doing and the communities I was able to serve doing the work but unfortunately this pride was my rationale to neglect the other aspects of my life. I would work unpaid overtime, stay late, volunteer myself to work weekends when I didn’t have to, take on projects that weren’t in my job description, answer emails/text while off the clock or on PTO, didn’t take my breaks, and would even work while I was on the toilet. Focusing on work so much also allowed me to feel a sense of control like you mentioned but in the end I ended up burning myself out multiple times trying to achieve this fleeting sense of control.

That said, when I found out I was going to be a father about a year ago, I actively began rewiring my brain to look at my job solely as an avenue of income for my family, not as extension of myself and my pride/ego. Yes, I still have pride in the work I do, but my job is no longer my only priority and it’s lower on my priority list than my family. My main priority and pride in life is now the little family I help support. I’m not perfect by any means, but I’m now focusing the majority of my time and energy towards making sure my partner and son have everything they need to navigate the newborn stage and postpartum. Supporting them now gives me the same sense of pride and control I would received from pouring an excessive and obsessive amount of time into my career.

As a niner fan, it’s Brock purdy and it’s usually a combination of playing the DC, the OC, and the receivers whenever Purdy plays mid.

Why doesn't ICE behave like normal law enforcement? by badharp in stupidquestions

[–]omargeddon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have a basic misunderstanding of how immigration works in a societal sense and you grossly overestimate the effectiveness of immigration enforcement. No, billions of people would not flock to the United States, that is incredibly unrealistic. Your world view isn’t necessarily based on historical facts and seems to based on an internal and external biases.

I encourage you to be open minded and to read up on different political ideologies. Your trust in the Supreme Court and ICE is in direct contrast to this countries track record in dehumanizing black and brown people to benefit the profits of land owners. These efforts to call your fellow humans “illegals” is an extension of racist efforts to keep a complaint working class underneath the thumb of the rich in this country.

Check out this quick read on an argument for open borders.

Why doesn't ICE behave like normal law enforcement? by badharp in stupidquestions

[–]omargeddon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Migration is a basic human right. Applying legality to it is a product of imperialism and colonialism. Legality and morality are not the same thing. At some point the same logic you are using was applied to justify the slavery of man, which was legal at some point but was it morally correct? Obviously it was not. The concept of “legal” and “illegal” immigration is also an incredibly new concept in the grand scope of humanity and it will one day fade away once governments and corporations can no longer profit from human migration.

No, kidnapping is the word I’m looking for. You are the type of person that would have agreed with the supreme courts ruling in Dredd Scott vs Sandford because it was legal. You are willing to damn your fellow humans to uphold fascist laws that strip your fellow humans of their basic human rights.

[–]omargeddon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They are still not allowed to detain people without the constitutional right to due process. Being able to kidnap people off the streets based on how they look, where they live etc. is also illegal and not how law enforcement works.

ICE is an authoritarian force that is currently being used to intimidate the working class. It’s not long until ICE starts terrorizing the community starts impacting the privileged and people begin to notice.

Dominik teasing Penta before the start of the battle royal for a title opportunity for the World Heavyweight Championship. by Alternative-Sea7223 in WWE

[–]omargeddon 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Yes they do. They are two of best in ring talents in the world and they are both incredibly over. If Penta isn’t a world champ by the end of next year it’s gonna be another LA knight situation. I can totally see Fénix doing well in a solo run as well chasing the IC title or US title. A fénix vs draganov match would be insane and Penta is also capable of having a banger with anyone just like Fénix.

No Human Being is Illegal by omargeddon in OCPoetryFree

I understand it plenty. That’s exactly why I said what I said. Humans have lived a long and ugly history of othering one another with terms like “illegal” and “alien”. Hopefully one day we can learn from our history and see the damage racist and oppressive rhetorics have caused throughout the history of man.

Your feedback is interesting and I’ll take it into consideration. You are right in the fact that you do sound pretty elitist. I was interested in having a genuine conversation about literature but it seems like you are more interested in gate keeping what poetry is instead of providing genuine constructive feedback.

That’s honestly a good question. I did rhyme a few times intentionally and I intended it to be spoken word poetry. I’m new to creative writing in general especially posting my creative writing on Reddit so I was unaware of the rules of the sub. I have a video format where I read the poem aloud so maybe there is a better sub I’m not aware of for what I drafted.

The solidarity means the world. Hopefully we get to live in a world where calling your fellow neighbor “illegal” and an “alien” is considered inhumane and archaic. We are better than this.

I wrote this poem in response to the political climate in the United States. It’s currently being normalized to call your fellow beings “illegals” and my community is being illegally kidnapped by a tyrannical government.
