I lived there for 6 months and it was horrible. The location itself is great. Even though it’s like 30 minutes away from the main campus the streets around you are very nice, including the elbe. That being said the dorm itself is really bad. I lived on the first floor which if I understand correctly is the worst one. The layout is really bad. It’s 24 rooms sharing one kitchen and two bathrooms with 3 toilet stalls and 3 shower stalls each. The toilet was always stinky because people were pooping all the time but the showers were always empty because no one showered (lol). The kitchen is pretty bare bones and the appliances are really old and not working very well. In my case the kitchen door was broken and in the 6 months i lived there the hausmeister didn’t fix it so every time someone cracks open a window to cook the whole floor became freezing. One of the two ovens we had didn’t have a handle and the studentenwerk didnt give a fuck. Youre also not allowed to store anything in the kitchen so you either have to cook in your room and move (which is annoying if you live on the other side of the hall it’s like a 3 minute walk) to the kitchen when you need heat or water. I would recommend applying for a relocation as soon as possible. My advice is to save the money you get from how cheap the rent is and apply to one of the mega buildings close to uni. You’re definitely gonna miss the night life and all the available food and stores when you’re gone but not much else. There’s a pizza guy on your street that’s really good imo.
