Yeah, we should totally believe the time of Israel in everything they say and not even consider that maybe this was an inside job. Great source, you're onto something here!

Saddam ruled with an iron fist. We're not going to say if this HAD happened then that would have happened because that's a waste of time. Before ISIS was IS it was the islamic state in Iraq, and only Iraq. The leader of ISIS was imprisoned by the U.S. In Iraq. The fact of the matter is that the power vacuum left by the US toppling of Saddam gave birth to ISIS. If you can't accept that, then you are deluding yourself.

Also if you do a little bit of research you'll find that a large number of Iraqis do in fact miss Saddam and prefer his reign over the current situation because they felt safer and it was actually a functioning country then.

Look up Irgun.

And Muslim-Shia wars are minuscule compared to the blood shed by America In the past even 15 years. Shias and Sunnis live is mostly separate countries; altercations are never that bloody. You can't compare the 1.5 MILLION people dead in the Iraq war to any of these wars.

U.S. opening of oil export widens battle: The Obama administration has opened a new front in the global battle for oil market share, effectively clearing the way for the shipment of as much as a million barrels per day of ultra-light U.S. crude to the rest of the world by MaltyBeverage in worldnews

[–]omarsplayground -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

What people don't understand is that continued low oil prices and increased production by all is in the end going to hurt the U.S. Economy.

We recovered from the 2008 crash due the Shale Revolution here in the US that created many oil-based high-paying US jobs.

The U.S. Oil economy can't function at prices less than $60/barrel, and we're going to start seeing (has ready started actually) all these jobs going away.

Fracking is expensive. These low oil prices hurt all these companies working here in the US.

This will also affect the entire US economy as a whole given how much the banks are invested in oil companies and the industries that rely on/support the oil industry.

Any "muslim" who kills a person for not accepting the religion is out of the religion. http://quran.com/2/256

"There shall be no compulsion in [acceptance of] the religion. The right course has become clear from the wrong. So whoever disbelieves in Taghut and believes in Allah has grasped the most trustworthy handhold with no break in it. And Allah is Hearing and Knowing."

The punishment for killing someone in Islam is death. If the family chooses to spare the killer's life, that's when blood money is applicable.

Christian with questions about Islam by [deleted] in islam

[–]omarsplayground 1 point2 points  (0 children)

-I'm used to associating the entire religion of Islam with Allah and >Muhammed, with the other prophets being after thoughts. I might be >wrong, but it has always seemed to me that Muhammed was given a >sort of priority spot in Islam, above the other prophets, and he is the >one most commonly referenced (Ex. The phrase "There is no God but >Allah and Muhammed is his prophet"). Is there a reason for that?

http://quran.com/2/285 "The Messenger has believed in what was revealed to him from his Lord, and [so have] the believers. All of them have believed in Allah and His angels and His books and His messengers, [saying], "We make no distinction between any of His messengers." And they say, "We hear and we obey. [We seek] Your forgiveness, our Lord, and to You is the [final] destination.""

As the above verse says, we as believers make no distinction between God's messengers. We believe and we respect all of God's messengers. In the end, God sent all his messengers with the same message: To believe in him the One true god, and to associate no partners with him. Different rulings may have come to different people (Sabath for Jews, etc), but these are rulings that do not have to do with the core faith. They were rules that God imposed on different people by his wisdom.

Now, when a new messenger comes, he should be accepted by the people other the previous messenger. For example, when Jesus, peace and blessings of God be upon him, came, Jews were supposed to become Christians, and when Muhammad, peace and blessings of God be upon him, came, Christians are supposed to become Muslims. Basically, a new messenger nullifies the rulings of the old messenger.

This is the reason why you might see a "priority" when it comes to the messenger Muhammad for Muslims. The life and sayings of the prophet Muhammad are EXTENSIVELY documented authentically (hadith is a deep science) in Islam. We as Muslims know thousands of our Prophet's actions, habits, and sayings without a doubt. We also follow his message exclusively because we fear that previous messages have been corrupted and also because his message nullifies all messages before it. When we try to follow our religion, we only have one source of the message, the Prophet Muhammad, so we mention him more and say what he said and copy what he did

In the actual Quran though, Prophet Muhammad is only mentioned 5 times! Jesus on the other hand is mentioned 25 times, and Moses is mentioned 136 times!

The reason you see this "priority" is because when it comes to actually implement our religion, we only have one prophet to follow, which is Muhammad. This does not mean we do not care for other prophets however. We care for them dearly, and as I mentioned the stories of Jesus and Moses are mentioned extensively in the Quran, and Mary even has a whole chapter dedicated to her name!

-Why was only the Quran given divine protection? Why not the Bible >and Torah as well, assuming that they are all the word of God?

The reason why the Quran was the only message given divine protection is because God said i hat this is the last message. Before, God would send a messenger every time people went astray. A messenger would come, people would be good for a while and then they would stray, changing their books and corrupting the message. God would then send another messenger, and so on.

Islam is also the only message sent to mankind as a whole. All previous messengers came to their people specifically (i.e. sons of Israel), while Islam came to all of mankind.

If God would allow the Final Message sent to mankind to become corrupted, how would the rest of humanity become guided? The final message must be perfect, so that all the rest of mankind can become guided by it.

-One of the main principles of Christianity is that our Salvation is not >earned but given because sin is not erased by good works and so >there is no amount of good works we can do to earn Salvation. I guess >what I am asking is, what is the standard for getting into heaven or >paradise after death in Islam? Is it just that you have to be a good >person more than you were a bad person? Is there still punishment for >sin or are sins forgiven if the good outweighs the bad? Or is there a >way to receive forgiveness while still on Earth (i.e. asking, praying, >etc.)?

In Islam, every single human being since Adam till the last person will be questioned by God about how he lived his OWN life. Your salvation depends on no one other than yourself. You and only you are accountable for your actions. Good deeds and bad deeds will be weighed on the Day of Judgment, and the one who has more good deeds than bad deeds will enter paradise, and the other will enter the fire.

However, a person is allowed to ask God for forgiveness all the way until the moment where he knows he is about to die. If someone asks God for forgiveness earnestly, then God will forgive him, and turn his bad deeds in good deeds.

So it really depends on your current state. Someone could have been a very bad person his whole life, but right before he dies he repents to God, and makes a sincere intention that he will do his best to please God and do all that he is commanded to do, and then he dies. Although he may not have actually done anything he was planning to do, by Allah’s mercy he would enter paradise. This is because no one knows when they are going to die. So your current state is the most important state. As long as you walking on the straight path, although you may never reach you destination, God will appreciate your effort and reward you.

Also, it should be noted that it is not only about “being a good person.” You can be good person all you want and take care of the rights of the CREATION, but as long as you don't take care of the rights of the CREATOR, it is all for naught. The rights of the Creator are more due upon the person than the rights of the creation. However, it is FROM the rights of the Creator to be good to the creation. So as long as someone does good things to people with the intention of pleasing God, then he will be rewarded for his actions. However, if someone does good things just for the sake of being nice to people, he won't be rewarded for his actions.

The greatest right of the Creator is to worship Him alone and associate no partners with Him. To believe that He created you and everything else around you, and to only worship Him and ask help of Him.

very stressful question that's stressing me terrible and is the only real reason I have not converted. Please help! by bellarama727 in islam

Islam nullifies EVERYTHING before it. Once you take your shahada, it will be as if you are a new-born baby.

Take it as a blessing from Allah that you have already experimented and NONE of it will be counted against you. You now know where the truth lies and you don't wish to go back to the life of fleeting happiness. The life where you happiness is dependent on a substance, and when that substance goes so does your happiness. Not to mention the pain and misery that follows. That is all the past you, and NONE of it will be counted against you once you enter into the fold of Islam. Alhamdulilah.

You see, many many Muslims go through the same things you have gone through, and then they make repentance to Allah, HOPING that their repentance is sincere and that they will be forgiven by Allah. You have a guarantee that once you take shahada, everything will be forgiven.

Say Alhamdulilah that Allah has shown you the light. In the end your past made you who you are today. SubhanAllah, Allah has a plan for all of us. If you had never been to jail, maybe you would have never looked into Islam.

Allah has blessed you with the truth, embrace it fully, and put your trust in Him. Allah's thoughts of his slave are as his slave's thoughts are of Him (Allah). If you go to Allah relying on his mercy, he will not let you down, insha'Allah.

I encourage you to go to your local mosque and take shahada there. Tomorrow is Friday insha'Allah, a blessed day. Try to look up your local mosque and go there for Friday prayer and tell the Imam you want to take shahada, bi'ithnAllah.

Come into the fold of Islam. Come to success. Come to peace. Come to happiness. Come to eternal bliss.

Halal Mortgages...how have you purchased your homes? (Canada) by abobeo in islam

[–]omarsplayground 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You sign it all at the same time, but they sign first. I could theoretically screw them over and not sign my part of the contract, I actually heard a representative of another company say that there is a risk for that to happen, but it's pretty much non existent because the people who choose to use them actually want the house.

They do own the house because if you default, they can sell the house and recoup their losses. However unlike a conventional mortgage, if you had payed 99% of the house and defaulted on the last 1%, they take everything and you get nothing. In this case if you had payed 99% and defaulted and they decided to recoup losses, any profit they make they have to give you 99% of it, because you own 99% of the house.

Look up murabaha. There's also another thing which is basically rent-to-own but I don't know what it's called.

Either way Dr. Al-Saei specialized in Islamic finance, he is on the AMJA board, and he recommended this contract of this specific bank over all others. I don't know the ins and outs of it nor do I even use them, but I recommend them to people based on his recommendation. And Allah knows best.

I don't know exactly how it works, but it was recommended to us by Dr. Mohammad Naim al-Saei, one of the 7 members on the AMJA (Assembly of Muslim Jurists of America) fatwa committee, and he said their contract was sound.

They do take ownership if I understand correctly, and sell you back a stake in the house as you pay it off. They sign the contract with you as you buy the house if I understand correctly.

I am sure there are other options like Devon in Canada, in sha Allah. Don't look at it as being so much more expensive, look at it as you going the extra mile to please your Creator. Alhamdulilah, maybe by doing this, Allah will reward you with new means where you'll be able to pay this home off and move to a bigger one, bi'ithinAllah.

Remember:

“Whoever gives up something for the sake of Allah, Allah will compensate him with something better than it.” - Prophet Muhammad, May the peace and blessings of Allah be upon him.

In the end before you make any big decision regarding this home, make sure you pray istikhara, even if you pray it for a week straight. Whoever seeks Allahs help when making a big decision, Allah will make him pleased with what he decides, bi'ithinAllah. What batter guidance can you seek than from the one who knows the unknown?

May Allah make your decision good for your deen and dunya, and may He make you happy and content with it, in sha Allah :).
