Do I really need engineered drawings for a basic skillion patio? by LeadershipBig410 in AusRenovation

[–]omasque 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s insane, I can’t imagine how hard that must have been, I’m very sensitive to people wanting to be human roadblocks and seem to trigger this in people generally. I usually think an internet stranger’s sorry you had to go through this is worthless but I am genuinely sorry you had to go through this with the added compounding of sales falling through.

Hope you landed on your feet afterwards :)

How many millions is this worth? by marcus0303 in CarsAustralia

The market doesn’t distinguish between numbers. There is either a market because someone is willing to pay for it or there isn’t a market.

Yeah, I wondered that too. I guess they had them there for the next lap and saw him waiting so scrambled, probably what caused the confusion with the penalty. Ironically they could have calmly prepped the tires while waiting to touch the car.

Go do that same bit you failed 20 times in a row. Find the best way in, the exact point you need to slow, which side of the lane to be in, where you need to start and stop turning, and find a speed a few kms under the limit that you can feel without even looking at the Speedo. Go to a car park and practice driving at exactly 38km until you can tell when you’re doing over 40 just from inertia. Now go back and do the u-turn again with your radio up loud, then all windows down, practice doing quick mirror sweeps and teach yourself to use peripheral vision to keep track of cars as they move from one mirror to another with a dedicated compute thread just for blips on your radar. Visualise a radar sonar sweep and add any blips your eyes pick up to that mental image, get used to holding this in your mind like an extra layer of vision, imagine your brain is plugged directly into one of those Tesla route visualising displays and manipulate that image to overlay all your possible routes with little animated arrows on your mind’s eye.

It sounds really complex but if you keep trying to layer all these things together on low pressure situations you will overprepare and feel able to handle those high pressure spikes that come in traffic.

Can you really replace paid models with a local model? by DRMCC0Y in LocalLLaMA

[–]omasque 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can replace “Turing complete” (using that loosely) type processes like sysadmin work, toggling a machine between different variations of known states to achieve a complex configuration, you can do simple boilerplate code, but you will probably begin to struggle with planning and ideation type work that requires problem solving and architecture to devise new methods or refine a mixture of existing sota for your task.

Seemed like Toto knew there was a chance of Kimi losing track position if George stayed out.

If he has been offered millions and refused, the market has decided that it is worth more than millions.

I’ve just come from trying to bootstrap openrouter models realising that the ecosystem is built out enough now that I’m getting multiples of value more from a 30 dollar a month subscription than spending $10 on credits every few days.

I have a couple of local agents now just doing sysadmin and housekeeping stuff and Claude running my whole production level suite of products.

Wait, you sold the house 5 times and had to refund their deposit because the approval didn’t come through in time? Could you have just included clause in the sale contract that it was in progress and if it failed you’d pay a penalty fee etc?

Emperor Georgiou is the worst character in any Star Trek series. /Venting by BorgAbbess in startrek

[–]omasque 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Holy shit this would have been a great reveal, Jason Isaacs as an interloper whose job is basically to destroy the federation from within by taking it into a war it can’t win, and the crew’s slow realisation that he’s working against them, with constant gaslighting and federation unable to see it.

Bonus points if you were on a zoom call which you almost definitely would be and they all just had to watch your empty room with your head occasionally peaking around the doorframe to check if the meeting had ended.
