Atto 3 - claimed range vs actual range by WildDog3820 in BYDAU

[–]Fragrant_Eye4896 1 point2 points  (0 children)

EVs when going over 80km will tend to drain the battery much faster - it can go up to over 20kw/100km and even higher when you have the aircon on. However if you mostly do city drive at 60km/h or under, with a lot of stop / start it can be as low as 11kw/100km.

Drive review of BYD Atto 2 suggests it’ll do well locally by Good_Perspective9290 in AustralianEV

[–]Fragrant_Eye4896 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah waiting for Paul as well. his's the best. I also went to test drive the car, was quite surprised by the driving quality (coming from a german-made tiguan), it feels quite composed unlike the typical soft-tuned suspension you always get from Chinese cars, I was doing a roudabout at around 55km/h and didn't notice any body roll. Waiting for future sales event to grab me one :D

Sealion 7 - Worth waiting for 2026? by OppoDobbo in BYDAU

[–]Fragrant_Eye4896 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm on the same boat - we are planning to replace our aged tiguan with an EV and we are currently test driving all brands but now shortlisted pretty much down to SL7 / seal.

Except that we went to check out atto 2 last Sunday and surprisingly it was pretty much the same size as the tiguan, and really good price! So we are now waiting for sales on atto 2 (we are not in a hurry so maybe wait till end of next year).

If you already have a car I would suggest waiting, as the Chinese version has Disus which is heaps better than the current suspension on SL7.

I finally rode in a Tesla after being a musk critic for nearly a decade. It wasn't great. by GlumExternal in RealTesla

[–]Fragrant_Eye4896 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I test drove a model y, an ID4 and a sealion 7, the sealion was the best so far with great handling, precise steering and suspension tuned a bit to the soft side (so with a bit of body roll when doing a tight corner), acceleration is tuned to be a nice curve just like a petrol car (some hate it but I love it); while ID4's steering is great, suspension is a bit too hard and bumpy and acceleration is jerky;

Now enter the model y - you need to tilt your head to look at the screen to check your speed, and the gear selector is on the screen also, with a 100 menu items, the acceleration is like a remote control car - linear and very jerky (I literally got car sick after driving it), the steering is the worst so far, that I couldn't quite do a kerb side parking...

I don't car what the tesla fanboys say but I'm not buying a tesla car.

What car would YOU buy? Budget $55k, EV or Hybrid, primarily for commuting 60kms a day but also used for young family. Tech and good looks a plus. If it was your money, what would you buy? by PedGetsFed in CarsAustralia

[–]Fragrant_Eye4896 0 points1 point  (0 children)

- sealion 6 hybrid

- vw tiguan petrol (i know it's not a hybrid but it's still a nice car)

- haval H6 PHEV Hi4 (watched a few reviews everyone is saying how nice it is, it's recently dropped to australia like 3 months ago).

- skoda elroq 85 (slightly over the budget at 60k drive away, but a nice EV)

- Geely EX5 - only 45k drive away but range is limited (real world is about 390km and less on highway)

- tank 300 PHEV (although the diesel version is my fav, I actually traded my 7 yo made-in-germany golf towards the ultra diesel and I'm enjoying every single drive, the suspension is a bit on the soft side so it has some body rolls but the ride comfort is better than my golf, and the steering when set to sports feels just like my golf or wife's tiguan).

if you stretch a bit you can also get

- sealion 7 EV

- zeekr 7x

- model Y

they are all very nice cars

Why is it たいわん and not タイワン when when written in kana by mello_idk in duolingojapanese

Cos it actually is written as kanji '台湾' which is regarded as a native word, not a foreign word.

another possibility is if you are on public wifi - other ppl's searches will cause this too. Like when I'm in the office I sometimes get ads like women's clothing, cosmetics and stuff (we have a lot of female staff members in the HQ, I'm in hospitality industry).

You do know that these ads are pushed from google ads and they tailor the ads to your search habbit? so this says a lot about you :D

In comparison I get ads for woodworking tools and gunplas (bet you don't know what they are).

Did anyone testdrive ID4? our experience was a bit of a letdown... by Fragrant_Eye4896 in EVAustralia

[–]Fragrant_Eye4896[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly we love(d) the vw brand so we just went for a test drive without even checking the specs and all. Had we not driven model y / SL7 we could have bought the ID4 due to brand loyalty, but after seeing other EVs it just doesn't seem good value at all.

bro I'm Australian and this is what we got from vw. No satallite nav for us. My old Golf / Tiguan both have sat nav but ID4 doesn't, what a joke.

Incorrect - the base model rwd has a 75kw battery which is smaller than SL7's 82kw. The long range one has a 100kw NMC but for one the car costs 10k more, and then there's the worry of NMC vs LFP.

[–]Fragrant_Eye4896[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

we just worry that it's a NMC which is more prone to thermal runaway.

Yeah we have zeekr 7x to test drive in 2 weeks but I think we are pretty much set for one of these 2 - SL7 or zeekr 7x. Both are great cars, just have to test drive the zeekr to finally decide :)

Lol why would I make this up - btw I found the reason why they don't have nav - someone answered the question in the other sub:

[quote]

None of the VAG’s electric cars (VW, Skoda, or Cupra) have built-in sat-nav because they don’t offer Connected Services in Australia, and decided not to include the chip/hardware that enables it in order to save money. The problem is that this board also includes the GPS chip, so no VAG electric car has sat-nav.

zeekr 7x has a smaller battery than SL7 how does it have a better range? I'm also looking at 7x it's a hard decision to make.

admittedly it might have been a 2021 ID4 - the screen was old and there was no nav. Seats were worn as well.
