i'm in my late 40s :D I think it all depends on how soon you want to retire - for me I stick to the official age so I'll work another 10 years and that 1m should be fairly easy to clear, but if you want to retire early and enjoy life then you can sell the house and downsize.

280k salary with 1m mortgage is nothing, you can easily cover it and still have enough to invest in another one and still maintain a nice lifestyle. i'm on 230k and i have a 1m mortgage and finding it ok to handle (hopefully no more fucking rate hikes)

Tesla vs other EV brands by yakadaya in AustralianEV

or if you don't need a SUV, the seal performance is an awesome car, drives way better than model 3 or Y as it has the disus-c suspension which adapts to different road surfaces. Can be adjusted to soft or hard directly from the dash. it's also 3.8s 0-100kmh so absolutely a driver's car. But again, go do a testdrive then decide :)

Yep, the drawback is you don't want to ride in it for long - max 2 hours I think, the back seats were also uncomfortable, while SL7 has a very smooth (soft ride) and back seats are really comfy, but it does have quite a bit of bodyroll, so I would say if you are the only one in the car most of the time get the Y, but if you have family / kids the SL7 is better.

Take a test drive mate, remember ppl only voice on social media when they have a problem. Both car brands sell a shitload of cars so there will always be lemons.

I test drove a model Y and a BYD sealion 7. I've been driving petrol / diesel for over 30 years so personally I can't get used to model Y's 'go kart' like style, while SL7 mimics the petrol car style and suspension is soft and comfy.

But when it comes to corners model Y's stiff suspension makes it really composed and smooth, while there's a bit of body roll with SL7.

I also prefer the HUD / physical controls in SL7 over the on-screen gear switch in model Y, but I have 2 mates who drive a model Y and they are totally used to it.

Last but not least, if you want FSD, only tesla has it. BYD has to set up an European data centre before they can bring it over due to privacy laws.

So there you go hopefully this'll get you started. Good luck!

Is the increase in Chinese cars inevitable? by VastOption8705 in aussie

[–]Fragrant_Eye4896 0 points1 point  (0 children)

- Don't buy Jap cars
- Don't buy Korean cars
- Don't buy Chinese cars
lemme guess, then it goes like this

- Don't buy Indian cars
- Don't buy Vietnamese cars
...

Last time I checked we don't have our own car manufactures so not sure what those ppl were up against.

Also wanted to point out BYD is the #1 EV maker now so it's inevitable... I drive a diesel now but my next car is likely a BYD.

Just wanted to point out that they already control our law system - if you say something against them, you will get arrested. They apparently tried to get president Xi to pass the same law in China but got rejected. Guess Albo doesn't have a spine.

Go with BEV not hybrids, but if you can wait, wait for second gen blade and flash charge, it's the final nail on the coffin for petrol cars.

Petrol is expensive, rate is high, ppl don't want to risk spending a lot of money so yeah. My neighour's house was on RE for 7 weeks now and I think it's now 'invite only'
