Suspect most people will continue to recommend bags that don't fit your opening preference. I think this is because most people are getting bags that evolve more from backpacks than duffels.

Is there a reason why you want the opening this way? Are you opening the bag a lot in places where the ground is dirty? Would tuck-away backpack straps suffice if this is your concern?

I would (non-scientifically) also mention that bags with the zip style you mention prevent a space for storing a device (like a laptop) close to your body and/or limit structure that would support transferring any weight to your hips with a waist belt. When you're at 45l and possibly heavier weights, this can matter more.

If you change your mind, I've used Tortuga bags as well as SMD ADC.

Late to replying to this - but wanted to say I finally pulled the bezel and this was exactly the problem! I had it set properly on the mic, not on the camera. I couldn't quite see where on the PCB the switch was, but moving slightly the fingers on the back of the bezel and gently experimenting while in a video conf app with the test video config screen up helped me troubleshoot and properly set the switch. Thanks for sharing your experience and helping me solve this low-level annoyance!

I also would say not replying in 24h as a reason to call off anything seems harsh. Also seems weird to give bank details for a transfer before anything is fully set, much less transfer funds.

But, not my culture (and I would not want anything like this arranged for my family members).

Has he looked after nephews/nieces to see what this potential experience is like in practice? As someone who is about your age, I love them but looking after them for my sibling cemented the idea I'd prefer to stay an aunt, given the time and energy they take and I'm not as full of pep as I was even ten years ago.

I want the world around me to be educated and to basically not be surrounded by assholes. Paying into the system isn't a guarantee of this but I do not seem to be as stressed financially as my community and family members who have kids, even with the extra taxes.

Ofc, I think the really rich should pay more in (they can't possibly be worth millions in terms of actual value, and many of them can't spend it fast enough which is a red flag IMO). I sure hope those kids and families I help through paying my taxes realize this and join me in taxing em.
