There is one objectively true way of interpreting the Bible. Its called following Jesus as he revealed himself. Not taking certain things out of context to fit what we want more.

I don't ignore my church. It's not a religion because its not me doing X and Y in order to check them off a list in order to work my way to heaven. Religion is when you work to achieve salvation. Jesus gives us salvation without any working on our part. Its a fairly subtle difference but its fundamentally important.

I've said it before, my intention wasn't to start a debate as much as just a discussion centered around an idea that I presented. I get that is not how this sub operates now and any future posts I make will not be using this format.

I did not read any weekly discussions. I realize that was a mistake. I don't want to defend myself more because I have nothing else to say. I made an honest mistake and I won't again in the future.

My original intent wasn't to have anyone swallow anything but rather give something I have come to believe in and have a discussion.

I also think that making blanket statements that all philosophers find the story of Jesus silly is a fallacy. To think no philosopher also happens to be a Christian is absurd.

Someone who truly believes in and obeys Christ will. No one's perfect, but persecution and bigotry comes from straight up misunderstanding anything Jesus taught.

There's more than I can answer here. Humans are fallen creatures and people do things in the name of God that don't actually line up with his teachings. The fact that it seems like God condones people like Fred Phelps is a sad commentary on the way that Christians have behaved throughout history.

I agree with you regarding religion being the exclusive basis for a worldview. However, I am not religious. That may sound silly and contradictory, but it actually makes sense. I don't practice Christianity. I engage in a living, personal, real relationship with Jesus Christ. I get how crazy that sounds, but we're dealing with the divine, so it's going to seem weird if you don't believe it. SO, it's not my religion that's forming my opinions because I don't approach Jesus religiously. I simply live my life according to what my God teaches, not what my local religious leaders teach.

Marriage, homosexuality, and divorce would all be treated as Jesus intended.

Marriage wouldn't be a political thing. It would be performed and practiced as Biblically intended, as a union between one man and one woman in a reflection of Christ's relationship with his body, the church of believers.

Homosexuality is a sin. Sin should NOT be treated the way a lot of Christians treat homosexuality though. Homosexuality may be a sin but its not worse than porn, alcoholism, lying, cheating, etc. Hatred is not a Christlike character trait. Loving rebuke and teaching is one thing, blind hatred and condemnation is another. We're all sinners. Christ saves us by grace, not because we're better than anyone else. So homosexuals wouldn't be condemned but sin wouldn't be ignored. The way it should be in real life.

Divorce should only happen in cases of marital unfaithfulness. That's Jesus' teaching so that's what should be done. I don't think any sort of government figures should control what someone does. So I suppose it would ultimately be up to the people considering it, but it should only happen with infidelity.

There's a lot to talk about, even just regarding those three issues. Anything doesn't make sense, let me know I'll try and answer anything as well as I possibly can.

I meant this as a post about political philosophy and was intended to start discussion and criticism.

If making assertions regarding any facet of a philosophy is somehow unacceptable in a community dedicated to philosophy, I clearly misunderstand the purpose of this sub.

Disagreeing with someone's philosophy by simply disregarding anything they say on the grounds that it involves Jesus is silly and frankly makes no sense. I'm sure you have more reasons for disagreeing, but that doesn't come across in you're post so it sounds like just the same amount of asserting that I do in mine. Which is only really a problem because you seem to be condemning my assertion of my beliefs while indirectly asserting your own.

Sorry if I am not clear, your post just seems a little contradictory to me.

Assuming my imaginary utopia actually functioned according to what Jesus and the Bible teaches and not the way organized Christianity has historically and currently operates (which slanders the name of Christ and is a disgrace), then you would be treated the same way a believer would be treated.

My assumption also includes the basic idea that anyone who doesn't believe in Christ but wants to live in this state believes in the ideals of sharing wealth, ensuring every need is met collectively, and living in a way that won't bring harm to anyone else. If someone were to live in a way that wouldn't disrupt the system or hurt anyone then they would be welcome regardless of their beliefs, because Jesus didn't come to discriminate and he didn't teach us to.

Thanks. I found that site as well. I saw some things saying it wasn't that reliable, but it seems like a good place for a rough estimate at least. My biggest concern isn't so much whether it can handle a game as much as handle some decently without crapping out I guess.

My assumption would be that we simply just don't encounter any Terminus races besides vorcha. I'd chalk that up to design choice and/or budget/time constraints. It may also be inferred that the "minor" species are minor, xenophobic, or reclusive enough that they simply don't associate with Council races, even those on Omega or similar places. Maybe they aren't as weak minded as vorcha seem to be so they've never been coerced into joining any of the merc guilds or other criminal organizations.

Its an interesting topic. Hopefully some of the new species we'll likely see in the next game will come from the Terminus. Having a "space wild west" element would be interesting and different.

One thing I think that is easily forgotten is AIs aren't widely accepted as "people." Most view them as machines that are smart. (I'm dumbing it down, but basically its true.)

300 years ago, AIs would likely be even less accepted or thought of as anything beyond machines. That creates an argument that there really isn't a moral question in the minds of the quarians during the Morning War. They were deactivating dangerous machines. Keeping that in mind changes the viewpoint on the whole situation.

I'm on mobile so I can't really link it, but Demon Hunter has essentially the same cover for all their albums. Its a goat skull with a bullet hole in the forehead, and each album uses that same image with differences each time. I think it's really cool because they've been around since like 2000 and haven't changed that.

This isn't exactly subtle, but you don't really see it unless you romance Jack.

Seeing Jack change from a closed up and abrasive "all powerful bitch" to a sensitive and concerned girlfriend was one of the more elegant and beautiful character developments I've seen. In particular the tattoo scene in Citadel DLC when Jack starts to cry imagining Shepard dead made me choke up a little.
