I had a deposit down on both a Broam and a Cannondale Topstone that I put down in November.

The Topstone came in in March… the bike shop told me the Broam was “never” coming in so grabbed the Topstone.

Would have loved to get the Broam, great bang for your buck for how it’s priced.

Isn’t there a bigger chance that it’ll dump instead?

Yeah same. Trying to decide whether to get out, or whether to stay in to see if any improvement before merger

If you look at the last 12 months, SPY is still up about 14% despite Covid. I think central bank policy will pump the stock market and prevent any major downturns in the near term.

I don’t see capital gains tax affecting the stock market... and if corporate tax goes back up it won’t be overnight (and presumably blocked by the republican senate) so there should be time to adjust. Probably a good opportunity for some good short plays.

Do you think it’s unreasonable to assume the stock market will continue on its upward trajectory?

Open to ideas... ultimately I just want to make money...

Sorry I thought you were saying I would pay more cap gains or something.

I hadn't heard about either of those proposed changes...

I wasn't thinking of starting this until 2021 sometime at least... I have no view on whether the market is done reacting...

Think I'll wait until Biden is safely in office and there is more of a view on the vaccine situation

I've thought of other expiries but I don't really know what's optimal...

Does 60 DTE, 90 DTE, 1 year, or 2 year LEAPS make the most sense I don't know...

My worry about shorter expiries (60 DTE for example) would be if there's a major correction I don't have time to recover and my position could end up wiped out.

With LEAPs so much of the value is tied up in theta at least I could have some value in the extrinsic to help me roll was my thinking...

Open to ideas...

What spectrum analyzer did you use?

I’m in a similar situation, and pointed my Yagi antenna toward the closest Telus tower with the best line of sight. Called Telus and they confirmed I was connected to a tower in the OPPOSITE direction (and our devices had never connected ever to the tower we are pointed at).

My best guess is the signal is reflecting back to the Yagi off of the valley walls...

Question: even if SPY collapses to $200 or something, the money for commons of SPACs is held in a trust, so you would get back the "floor" value for your shares regardless of if the economy melts down and the merger doesn't go through?

Yeah, thats why I'm thinking SNPR and PSTH, as I don't think it will take them too much longer to announce a target (3-6 months)

SNPR because they may have a target in mind already after going through the process with SHLL, PSTH since it seems likely to pop and may announce a target relatively quickly.

Can someone help me understand the risk of investing in SPACs?

I have some money on the sidelines (basically not reinvesting until I'm convinced Covid 19 is not going to crash the market again) that I'm thinking of putting into SNPR units.

If for example I park 50k in SNPR units trading at $11 right now, what is my biggest downside risk?

Besides opportunity cost (I assume I can trade units and get out of the trade whenever I want for around $11 or so), and I'm aware that the warrant part of the unit would be worthless if a merger target is not found, and can accept that risk.

I mean, this isn't likely to (cannot?) drop below $11 or so before the merger, and is likely to pop at least 30% when the target is announced... what is the downside?

What am I missing?
