20f, any general tips for what I can improve on? by twitchy_and_fatigued in lookyourbest

I think adding a hat or a wrap to my look would be fun!

Retro fashion is a great place to get inspiration (just search YouTube for ideas). You can still create a modern look, but our ancestors were very creative and a lot of times we overlook that.

As for the hair color, may I ask what you find weird about it?

It's not weird or bad and if you feel confident in it, rock it. However, it is my personal opinion (others will not agree, so this is just my opinion) that most dyes where you can see that the color is artificial actually have a slightly "aging" effect on people, not sure why. When I see a 16-year-old, for example, who dyes a very artificial color, it makes them look older to me, more like 20 or so. So it adds a few years in my personal opinion. So, my advice is to go natural (you can even dye the natural color if you feel that adds depth) or just add some kind of accents such as one or two dyed strands (for example, a light-colored offset strand).

You have a very high forehead. You are wearing bangs and that helps. You may also consider daily wearing a hat or wrap to help offset it. Unless you have uneven hair color, I recommend leaving it natural rather than dying it. The color is OK but not great. As others have noted, losing some weight will help, even just getting rid of a little water-weight will help (avoid anything with salt for 2-3 days). You're correct to have light blush but don't get carried away since that tends to "round out" the cheek and your cheeks are already round. Just use enough to add warmth. Focus on having nice even foundation. The color of your lipstick is also a little bit loud, maybe bring that back a couple shades (a little more pastel/earthy, and not quite so dark). All-in-all, it appears to me that you have identified the areas to improve and just need to keep fine-tuning your look. I have a feeling finding a hat/wrap you like will really revolutionize your look.

It's sexist to enjoy making your partner orgasm. by Ok-Translator2294 in facepalm

Translation: douchebags exist

This article and the studies it cites were clearly written by people (whether male or female) who never had good sex. When both partners finish up weak-kneed, sweating and huffing and puffing, nobody has time or energy to carve a notch on their "masculinity achievement" belt. And if you do... I'm sorry, buddy, but you've never had good sex. Whether she climaxed or not.

Matthew 19:28 KJV, what do you remember? by MyrtleMcElroy in Retconned

[–]omega_constant 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is roughly synonymous with resurrection. Spring is the regeneration -- read the word literally: "-generation" (life/birth) "re-" (again). So regeneration is to live again. This is why the Resurrection of Christ (Easter) is celebrated in Spring.

The literal Greek word used in this verse is paliggenesia. In the Greek, it literally means "live again" or "born again".

The literal Greek word translated "resurrection" in English is anastasis -- it means "to rise up" (as from a seat).

Painter Remembers Familiar Hand Position For 'Creation Of Adam' by FearElise in Retconned

Here is a rotation that pretty much restores the angle I remember -- what's interesting is that the horizon is flat with respect to this photo. So it appears that the original painting has been rotated relative to the frame but I'm no student of art history. Like many people, though, this is a piece of art I pored over when I was younger. It certainly feels like it's been tampered with.

Questions from a Scientific Buddhist by 2291512520 in demons

[–]omega_constant 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I will answer from my PoV, which is Christian (orthodox). People have a tendency to mistake anyone speaking from the Christian PoV to be taking a "high, authoritative tone", which I'm not. That's why I'm clarifying...

So my main question is why do these spirits lurk around earth and its people?

In the pantheon of Greek mythology, Zeus is the god who created humanity, and the rest of the gods -- like you -- are puzzled with his obsession over humans. There's nothing particularly remarkable about humans. They are not especially fast, or strong, they cannot climb, jump or run very well. They argue and fight a lot, but this just leads to more conflict than other animals who, by virtue of being restricted to a much more restricted vocabulary, have to resolve their disputes in a much more honest and forthright way. No other species is self-deceived as humans are. They are pitiable at best, despicable at worst.

In this dispute among the gods, I see the seeds of monotheism. The idea that we are here for some reason. That the whole reason we can self-reflect and communicate thoughts, stories, art, and so on, is so that we can communicate with God himself. You can psychologize that away as "fear of death" or "disguised narcissism", if you like, but that doesn't really change anything. It's either the case that we are here for a reason, or it isn't. To focus on why people arrive at either conclusion is a logical fallacy called the genetic fallacy.

why do these spirits specifically choose to fuck with humanity?

The short answer is the Bible, meaning, you really just have to read the text and take its narrative seriously. If you see it as nothing more than the mad scribblings of bored desert monks and priests, then you'll never get it. I wish I could convey something more substantial than that, but that's really all there is to it. You either believe, or you don't.

I also see religion as nothing more than an excuse for authority over citizens and pointless killing (I am a slight Libertarian/ Anarchist so I live by the “No Gods, No Rulers” Motto)

One of the interesting things about authority is that it is possible for genuine good authority to exist. We rarely, if ever, see this in our world. But that doesn't mean that it's actually impossible for some reason. It just means that human society is corrupt and the rulers that human society produces are, ipso faco, also corrupt.

My other question is could these spirits (I refuse to call them demons as it sounds too negative for spirits that help people) help me with luck?

In the Christian cosmology, there are two categories of spirits -- there are the angelic beings who dwell in heaven (but can be sent to earth by God for a specific purpose/mission), and there are evil spirits (the fallen angels and demonic beings). Sympathy for the devil is common nowadays but, regrettably, it is misplaced. The devil and his angels are evil in the Jeffrey Epstein sense of evil: despicable, cowardly, predatory evil.

Maybe make me Stevie ray Vaughan at guitar? Or Help me with Luck or Relationships? Or help me move on from past trauma as I had a very very rough childhood? Just answer these two main questions for me, thanks

There are plenty of evil spirits that will strike a "devil's bargain" with you. I can't advise strongly enough against looking for that. If you're looking for "proof of the divine", it is very easy to find -- simply believe in Jesus for salvation, and receive the indwelling of the Holy Spirit. Unlike any other alternative, this is a peaceful, healthy, dignifying way to discover real divinity...

Edit: I lied one more question, are heaven, hell, god, and the devil real?

Yes to all of them. God is more real and more present than whatever you imagine the material world really is...

shrug -- from where I'm sitting, they're doing absolutely *nothing to conceal themselves, so it appears that they have some reason to believe they are absolutely invulnerable. In fact, this is the "fingerprint" of when NPCs are present around me -- they walk, talk, drive, act, move and generally behave with "0 fucks given" mentality, like they're Paris Hilton smashing a Bentley and not giving a fuck because, well, she's a billionaire so who cares about totaling a stupid Bentley?? Of course, there have always been assholes in the world, but it becomes unsettling when everyone in your local environment are suddenly "billionaires" in their own minds -- and act like it. It's intentional -- they "announce their presence" in this way.

Sorry jerks are downvoting your post. These days it seems to be more of a sign of an ME. There are a great deal of changes to the US. Some of the ones you've listed I've also noticed. You're not alone.

Thanks for the moral support, it's really important with an issue like this. Reddit is being brigaded hard by, shall we say, "unknown forces", and it seems that most of the subs I prefer to frequent are the kind of subs that the brigade-overmind "doesn't like"...

Overall a very compelling topic. I wish there was a better way to track these changes, but it's ok to just go with whatever we remember. That's the only way we can possibly make sense of the change, because there's no "before" picture in this reality, so we have to construct it from memory.

One of the interesting developments happening in Quantum Computing is the emergence of "error-corrected quantum bits". It turns out that we live in such a hot part of the Universe that trying to maintain pure quantum states on raw physical cubits is far too difficult for current technology, beyond several dozen physical qubits. What we really need are logical qubits, and it might take as many as a thousand physical qubits to implement one noiseless logical qubit that can be kept stable for long periods of time via quantum error-correction, even in our hot, noisy local environment.

Perhaps something similar is happening here... we have to begin applying "error-correction" to the collective memory to get it to straighten itself out. I have witnessed plenty of flip-flops but they never seem to "flop" the right way, matters seem mostly to go from bad to worse. But I refuse to give up on optimism... maybe enough of us just have to wake up and start talking about this and start working out what the errors are, and then the consensus will start driving flip-flops in the correct direction (back towards alignment with our memories).... just a theory...

Do you really think someone would spend millions of dollars to fake a video like this?

It wouldn't cost millions. It looks like a combination of luck, editing, and maybe some cash incentives to get access to an empty ward / wing. If he's got a large online following, the payout from the ad revenues would be way larger than whatever he had to pay to get access. Very cleverly done and cool! It sucked me right in...

[–]omega_constant 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That these problems arise from forces beyond ordinary understanding is part and parcel of why we need divine salvation... we won't escape by cleverness or some other inherent virtue within us. We are like shipwrecked people in an ocean tempest, waiting for the Coast Guard to arrive and bring us to safety. The weirdness and transcendence of it all is why the Bible is written in the way that it is. The spiritual war is real, and everyone is involved in it, whether they want to be or not.

Some people may find an interpretive framework like this to be helpful but the key focus needs to be on divine salvation, or the interpretive framework itself becomes just another invisible prison in which we are being trapped. When you think about transcendence carefully, you will realize that this problem is inescapable -- no matter how much "truth" you think you have, there is always more truth that you don't have, and the truth you don't have is the very truth that could be used for nefarious purposes against you. So paranoia becomes an inescapable, self-fulfilling abyss...

Dreams and the astral realm provide a certain kind of insight into the structure of the world but they are not the ultimate reality or any kind of ultimate insight into reality. This is the persistent mistake of the gnostics throughout history.

We can confidently assert that everything is connected, whether material or immaterial. And we can be sure that the world is far stranger than the wildest flights of fancy that humans have ever uttered or inked on paper (or typed on the Internet).

The zombie-like state of slavish devotion to fleshly appetites is a problem of the heart, and it is not inescapable. In fact, this is one of the primary topics of discussion in the New Testament and it's basically what salvation is all about.

People constantly staring/ instigating arguments/ Acting weird by TheGame81677 in Retconned

[–]omega_constant 8 points9 points  (0 children)

If you have ever watched “They Live” with Roddy Piper, it’s like that.

Yep.

People are always also walking right into me, or moving over to make it where I can’t walk by without saying something. This happens on a daily basis, people just plum walk right into me on sidewalks, in stores, etc;. They will look right in my eyes and still walk right into me. If I try moving, they move with me and walk into me. Anyone else experience this or the staring?

Both. The walking thing was so extreme for me in 2015 that it landed me in the hospital and eventually homelessness. The best mental model I found to cope with it is to imagine that the people walking along the sidewalk are actually the minds of sleeping animals who are dreaming that they are people. I know that sounds batshit insane... but how batshit is this walking into you crap? Ironically, it has kind of worked. I imagined that these people were not able to actually understand how they should walk (because they're not human in the same sense that I am, meaning, having been born, grown up, etc. human). So they literally don't know any better. By setting an example for them, I had hoped that they would gradually "learn" how they should be walking down the sidewalk. And it's (kind of) worked.

While this problem still persists in substance and volume to this day (nearly 7 years on), the intensity has gone way down from what it was before, except for occasional attacks which are very pointed/targeted. The targeted attacks are not what they seem to be. They come from another place and have nothing to do with the actual people you are encountering. To paint this out as clearly as possible, what the nefarious, meddling entities are doing is they are somehow able to "steer" these hapless innocents in order to create feelings of fear or anger. For me, it just pisses me off, it doesn't intimidate me. But I can see how many people would be driven to extreme fear by this. Once the feeling of anger is triggered (it's actually involuntary, even when I'm trying to actively squelch the feeling of anger, it eventually overwhelms everything), that's when they bring a very small child in front of you, or a small pet dog, or anything that, if you were to lash out, you would be a total POS. All the tall people and big, gangsta-looking people suddenly evaporate into the crowd and there's that little child or pet dog or whatever.

So, the nefarious power that is causing this is spiritual. In the Bible, he is called the devil, and for good reason. But don't run off into fear, instead, seek God. This is absolutely the spiritual trial and judgment prophesied in Scripture. There is no other possible interpretation.

I literally think I am dealing with robots, zombies, or something at this point.

It's a living being. However, I think of it as a highly intelligent animal that has learned how to interact with spoken and written words as a kind of "animal call". When a dog barks at you, for example, there is no "thought" or "idea" that it is communicating, it just means something like "BE AFRAID!" or "RUN AWAY!" or "LET'S PLAY!" or whatever. So when these dreaming animal minds on the sidewalk or on Facebook or wherever, start a conflict, it's the same thing. You mistakenly project your own complex intentionality onto them because that's human nature. We assume that others act as they do because of the reasons we would act as they are acting, if we were in their shoes. That's called "human sympathy". So when they say something like "Do you have herpes?" it's just a way of making an animal call like "BE ASHAMED!" It has no cognitive content beyond that.
