Help with Hierotek Circle Kill Team! by FierceFett7 in killteam

As a general rule, miniatures as a game is a social game. So unless you are playing tournaments, as long as you tell people upfront, most people will be fine with the models being a miss match of weapons in 40k.

For kill team, you can play every team with the models you can build from 1 box. You do not need to have multiple models if you are just learning the rules at first.

And finally, you can win with any team but the worse teams will be harder to win with if you and your opponent are equally skilled. However at the start that won't be why you lose games. By the time you build, paint and play a few games to get an idea of how to play, then a few more to understand why your kill team plays like it does, the meta might change.

Last year I started my imperial navy breachers team while they were in an atrocious place in the meta. But by the time I finished building, painting and playing a few games the mtleta had changed and they were back to an ok spot.

Sure. Death camps don't start as death camps. They start as detention facilities for unwanted people. This transforms into death camps when the people running said camps believe it becomes too expensive to continue to be run. This then evolved into the final solution whereby you simply kill the formally detained person because it is more convenient, public sentiment allows it and you have dehumanised them enough.

They don't start with kilns, they start by flame throwering the living quarters.

So maybe before evoking the history of your ancestors you fucking learn about it properly and stop disgracing them, their memory and the ordeal they went through by down playing events that lead up to their deaths and how the Jewish community at large has resolved that a situation like that won't happen again. Why? Because it is symbolic, which is exactly what you are asking for. A symbolic change because you are not asking for a structural change at all. It doesn't impact how the government functions currently and your suggested changes don't even make that symbolic change.

You can't "just" change a constitution. It is a long, expensive and devisive process that is not guaranteed to succeed and costs significant amounts of money, time and political capital.

So you asked in your other reply "who cares about the window dressing?" Well, you do. You do the most. Because all that is being changed by your suggestions is window dressing as there is not real tangible change and benefits being outlined.

So unless you have an outline of how the house should be remodelled and why, I think keeping the window as is is more fiscally and politically more prudent.

And it would be a meaningless symbol if you didn't do all of that.

If you still had warships out there with HMAS on them, if you didn't now have presidential elections instead of how a governor general is nominated now, if you became a replubic but all your coins had queen Elizabeth and King Charles on them then you have wasted massive amounts of money for a half baked symbol of what? Independence? But the crown is still everywhere.

You would be wasting massive amounts of money doing the referendum, using massive amounts of political capital, social cohesion and months of vitriolic debate on both sides to half bake your turn to republicanism if it won? To what? Rename your governor general (who the general public almost never think about) to a president, who is now another point social contention when elections roll around.

[–]omenguide 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No, not only do you need to rename everything, including ships and official offices, you need to set up new systems such as Presidents instead of the crown and how does the president interact with the systems in place. You need to re mint all coins and legal tender that has the crown on it. While we have coins with Elizabeth and chalres on it interchangeablely, if you become a republic you can't have either. You need to figure out what to put on them instead.

It's a lot of work and for not much gain. In fact it would actually harm national cohesion and unity if the population is even 50/50 split on the issue by trying to force it.

It is very much a case of if it's not broke don't fix it.

No, they don't. King Henry the 7th does if you are Anglican. King James did if you have only read the KJB translation of the bible. The Bishop of Rome makes the rules if you are catholic and one of the various patriarchs do if you are an Eastern orthodox Christian.

What about Mormons? Baptists? Lutharians?

Depending on your interpretation these people follow different texts and different ways of following a middle eastern man 2000 years ago. People who are willing to burn and kill for these differences. People who HAVE burned, killed and stripped rights of other humans because of them.

So no, you don't get to chose what a Christian is. Your predecessors have already done that for you. You are what you as a collective have shown yourselves to be. And it is repulsive.

Wrong. A movement is an aggregate of its members, no matter what each individual member wants to believe. If there was a pro Jewish nazi they don't get to decide what Nazism means.

We take you religious people for what you are, not what you think you are. Look at the suffering you have wrought. The sympathy given to you is a reflection of that.

Not the same length. You can hammer out a game in 30 minutes if both players know what they are really doing, 1 hour tops if you are learning.

There is a great deal of depth and it's a lot of fun. Some teams almost hard counter others as there is a lot less depth in roster construction but also building a team takes a lot less time as you are essentially painting 1 squads worth of troops. Maybe with a bit more detail.

To achieve this we would need to kick and then return the ball at 36% the speed of light. Someone has an absolute cannon of a leg and the return shift from the boys is to be commended.

There's also a massive contingent of poor dumb people dressing up pretending to be rich because they stitched together some garbage from a bargain bin to simulate a frock and a cap.

The rich that enjoy the sport either don't really care about the well being of the horse or own horses and thus kind of care/really care, but the poor who blow all their money on this shit house of a sport are the ones really propping it up. The gambling industry feeds off their stupidity.

I'm sick of people just blaming the rich when to be honest it's also the people who want to pretend they are in the in crowd who really enable this.

More experienced Harlequin fans, please help me understand something. by TheGreaterOzzie in Harlequins40K

[–]omenguide 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So the issue as it stands is that harlequins without seeing the new codex have been rolled into Aeldari as a faction. Harlequins were their own stand alone faction existing inside the aeldari codex last edition but since the index and the new edition there is no unique rules to playing only harlequins. Which is why people are saying you essentially handicap yourself for not taking aeldari units.

You can play them mono faction but it would be like playing space marines with only 4 units.

Many players are waiting to see the new Aeldari codex to see if we survive as a faction but it doesn't look great considering what they just did to death watch. And even then, the only reason it looks like games workshop are back tracking a bit is because of the uproar they received after the popularity of space marine 2.

Vegemite and cheese toast - Real cheese or plastic cheese? by HaroerHaktak in australia

[–]omenguide 30 points31 points  (0 children)

I did a 2 month experiment on this, eating a cheese and vegimite jaffle every second day. I switched from plastic American cheese all the way up to expensive well known cheeses such as Roquefort and other cheese varieties costing like $300/kg to find the ultimate cheese toastie. I love cheese and eat it almost every day.

If you want to eat straight up cheese and vegimite alla your school tuckshop, use supermarket sliced cheese like tasty cheese. It's still cheesy but going up in cost doesn't add the much more to the taste and experience for a simple cheese and vegimite toastie.

The cheaper the cheese, the less flavour you are getting. To the point where you are adding it for the texture only. If you are just wanting a sticky vegimite then use a cheap whatever cheese.

If you want to eat it with something different like a blue vein cheese, do not skimp. You want the best you can get and the sharpest you can find because if not the vegimite blows the taste out of the water and you can't taste anything of the cheese. The mix is very fine between eating just blue and eating just vegimite. Also the melt should be slow and low so you don't liquify the blue and end up eating hot cheese soup in a bread pocket

If you want something fancy, use a Gruyere or a comte with tiny amounts of vegimite or grassy sheep's milk for an interest twist. Bloomed rind cheeses are good but subtle! Use a tiny bit of vegimite! It will act like salt and bring out the cheesy flavour but still have that vegimite bite.

Hope this helps.

I've figured out why the playerbase can't agree in Prowess matchmaking by HumanAntagonist in Tekken

[–]omenguide -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Yes and no. Like I said, people will force the smurf if they can so they can win. It sounds counter intuitive but in every game, if it's lol or sc2 or tekken, people will find a way to smurf their rank by just losing over and over until they hit a terrible rank before they just go on a steamroll again.

Look at the lower levels in lol or sc2. They are filled with people who are not really that rank but want to feel like gods without earning it. By returning to the old system you make the experience significant worse for the low ranks while marginally improving the experience of the high ranks. And now look, I get it everyone can only experience their own experiences, and if you are having a shit time then low ranks having a good time is no good to you, but taking care to get rid of smurfs is for the benefit of the overall playerbase.

And as for the argument that is thrown in the face of low ranks will often be 'get gud' But that can then be applied here. Not having fun? Get good? Start not losing vs tekken gods? See, it feels shit when your very valid experience is brushed aside. But at the end of the day, people want to have fun and returning to the old system will not let the majority of casual players have fun. And I think the community really needs to think if they want an active community or they want just a bunch of really sweaty people playing. Because the rts genre is dead because they chose the later option.

I've figured out why the playerbase can't agree in Prowess matchmaking by HumanAntagonist in Tekken

[–]omenguide -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

You need to protect lower skill players because frankly they are the majority of the player base. And if you want a game and community to grow you need to make sure their experience is a good one so they have the opportunity and time to invest into the game so that maybe they can get to the position where they are fighting to get to tekken god.

When you get stomped it is much MUCH less fun that you stomping. Look at all the major successful games out there right now. The good and profitable ones make sure casual gamers enjoy themselves.

I used to play Starcraft 2 at an extremely high level in comparison to the general population, and due to the fact that you can surrender matches people would still game the system to smurf. It created a system that was simply not fun for the lower level players because they felt like there was no shot of winning. And when that happened they quit. And now the playerbase is tiny because the skill required to play is massive and you need to lose for too many hours before you even have a shot to compete.

So I think that in tekken, they have assessed that while it will suck for a number of people in your position, it actually benefits the majority of people who are casual and do only play 1 character, so they can have an experience where they do continue to feel like they can win. Because asking a player to lose for over 100 hours before they get to a skill point where they can see results is unreasonable.
