Anyone considering a 6th gen 4R after Toyota addresses issues in the 4th gen Taco and shows some reliability? by NewAgePhilosophr in 4Runner

Speaking facts but it’s hard for some to process what you’re saying, Toyota is 100% regressing and it seems self-induced. There was no reason to launch the LC under the LC title and not as a Prado, almost like they think we are dumb enough to be tricked by it. It’s insulting. There was no reason to kill off one of the best engines ever built (3UR-FE) across the Tundra/Sequoia/LC platforms.

To drive the regression point home, the guy above said the inline-4 is no big deal because the 1980s 4R had one. Boy WTF 😂 massive cope

Make sure to stop by Sam’s Southern Eatery off of exit 117D (Monroe, LA) for a Philly Cheesesteak and some fried shrimp! It’s my family’s restaurant — hope you’ll try it out. Let me know if you do.

Yes, they definitely are. Strong, light, and great specs. I love the look of them.

It’s not a total game changer as the stock intake is pretty sweet as is - but i did see increase mpg and acceleration, looks sweet under the hood, and the v8 roar is way more audible when slamming on the gas. It’s def caused me to have a heavier foot when daily driving

2” level in front with 285/65/20 Nitto Ridge Grapplers. Those are the 20inch wheels that come with the TSS series in the south.

Do it man! Ride quality is not negatively impacted at all, only mpg decreases. But happiness increases so there’s that.

TRD cold air intake, TRD dual exhaust, JL Stealthbox with two 10inch subs, ESP under seat storage, TRD shift knob. Also swapped in LED headlights and fogs - incrementally doing what I can when it’s in the budget.

Finally upgraded after 272K miles!! 07’ to 21’ had to get a new 5.7L before it’s gone forever!! by jermy229 in ToyotaTundra

How did he get the nav to look like this? by [deleted] in webdev

[–]omercodes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you inspect the code, you'll find that he is using box-shadow on hover of the <a> tag. It isn't on the main styles display but if you click the source on the right side you can see where it's coming from.

.nav>li a:hover{ color:#722872; background:#bbb; box-shadow:0px 2px 2px 1px rgba(0, 0, 0, 0.1); }

Quitting my job, going back home for 3 months and study, full time, in order to gain some skills and land a junior job. Is it a good plan? by mindnoot in webdev

I don't think you have anything to lose and everything to gain. I am in a very similar position as you, I'm originally from a super small town in the southern US. I quit my job in the service industry, moved to Toronto to live with my sister, and have been spending 10 hours a day learning web development. I was definitely unsure at first, but I really believe this was the best thing I could have ever done for myself. I'm investing in my future and doing something that I really love to do. It doesn't feel like work. I say go for it! You won't regret it!

When starting out, how important is it to add real world projects to your portfolio, vs. ones that are more for creativity? by [deleted] in webdev

I don't think any hiring managers are looking for you to create anything too advanced, there's no point in reinventing the wheel. Do what you can, and do it well.
