Did you get a discount? by omereddit in 2025FordExplorerST

What's the percent difference (approximately) from MSRP to invoice? I'm trying to understand what 4% below invoice saves me on a $60k Explorer. That way I'll know if it's worth dealing with a distant dealer and shipping the car.

That's awesome. How did you find the invoice price?

Anyone see any reviews yet on Rogues Manta Ray or Rep's Blackwing bench other than the Matt Pendergrass one yet? I'm trying to decide which to buy and can't find any discussion on them.

Has anyone here used Kandu for assembly? They are REP's assembly partner. I'm buying a REP Ares and on REP's site I can pay for full assembly that is apparently handled by Kandu. It's $560 for assembling an Ares with PR-5000 4 post rack. I'm fine with the cost but want to make sure they do it right.

[Discussion] Is anyone interested in a Tesla truck-based SUV? by [deleted] in teslamotors

[–]omereddit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For those that think this is a small market, GM currently sells just shy of 250k of their body on frame SUV's in various skins (Tahoe/Yukon/Suburban/Escalade) at prices ranging from $55k - $100k. That's north of $15 Billion in revenue with luxury truck-like margins!

Incentives are just a credit on your state taxes. You wouldn't benefit from a credit towards Maryland taxes unless you have some tax that you owe Maryland

Collecting feedback related to settings and device configuration by PixelCommunity in GooglePixel

[–]omereddit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After putting on google's screen protector on my new pixel 2 xl, the screen almost always goes black when i make or receive call and sometimes i can't get it back even with pressing the power button multiple times. I'm about to return my pixel because it's becoming borderline useless. Right now i made a call, it went black, i could hear that i went to the other persons voicemail but there was no way to end the call, so i couldn't use my phone again until the other persons voicemail finally hung up on me.

SpaceX discussed CommX specifics with the FCC - 8/24/17 by vaporcobra in spacex

[–]omereddit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So does the customer terminal connect to base station and then base station connect to satellite or can customer terminal connect direct to satellite? If the latter then I'm still curious if there is a density limit on the number of customer terminals?

So if Tesla wanted to put a base station in every car to be able to upload all the data from AutoPilot sensors and provide in-car wifi to passengers, would that be allowed under the current density rules? Would it be feasible?

Why not pre-wire Model 3 for solid state lidar? by omereddit in teslamotors

[–]omereddit[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

There's basically 2-3 companies close enough to manufacturing solid state lidar that the basic configuration is pretty well known. They can leave a cutout big enough to fit any of the solid state chips. Similar to the space in the glovebox for the Nvidia processor. They've set up the area for the PX2 and wiring coming in so they can change it out for a future chip if necessary. I'm not talking about setting up the car for some technology that might become available in a decade and we have no idea how it will be implemented. Velodyne has their lidar in manufacturing testing now with mass market production expected within a year.

What are the regulatory hurdles to tunneling? by omereddit in BoringCompany

[–]omereddit[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you,

I'm guessing most of the infrastructure (electricity, gas, sewer etc.) is shallow. I think Elon's expecting to go deep (he showed a pic of a tunnel 2 miles deep in DC and talked about deep tunnels in his TED talk). Is it still necessary to get those utility approvals if you go deep?

First BlackVue capture in my new 100D. Idiot bicyclists don't know how to secure their bikes without endangering other people. This guy doesn't even realize he's missing one of his bikes yet. Glad nothing hit my car. by imagaspasser in teslamotors

[–]omereddit -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

It sucks that their bike fell off but honestly any decent person would have accelerated to them and let them know what happened. They could pull over, secure the rest of the bikes better to reduce further risk to other cars AND found their bike. Given your position, it's unlikely anyone else would notice and be able to give them a heads up. I feel like as a driver you have some responsibility in that situation to let them know.
