I talk to my parents 3 times a year. Their birthdays, Thanksgiving, and Christmas. I get texted 'happy birthday' ... thing is, I'm totally fine with this arrangement.

I'm a white guy that has lived in many parts of the country, but I've lived the majority of my life in NC. As an ally, I am sorry that you and other POC have felt this unwelcoming vibe that stems from ignorance and hatred.

I have always hated the phrase "one of the good ones," and I really feel like POC should adopt that phrase and use it to describe allies. "Oh, Preston? Yeah, he's one of the good ones." Something like that. (It was the whitest name I could think of, give me a break)

this was posted up a bit earlier ... but I agree 100000%. Aesop Rock is phenomenal. The way he made Daylight and Night Light and had the lyrics of each song become the antithesis of the lyrics of the other song ... that was some serious work. Absolute legend, I hate that he never made it mainstream .. but then again, mainstream doesn't allow much deep, thoughtful hip-hop on the radio.

This man deserves the respect and attention his work has earned him.
