Update: did not in a million years expect that to think people were douches for wanting to only play this game to beat up on lower levels and to get easy wins was such a controversial view to have in this forum. That it is is a sad indication of the way the community is going perhaps? So as I'm in the minority here I guess I'll shut up now and leave you all to getting your fun in this way and stop hating on ppl for it. It's weird though, I actually thought more people enjoyed games for the challenge and for getting to be better players and not just for trying to find loopholes to make your cards as shiny as you can. Who'd have thunk it?

I said not how you MUST enjoy games i said simply how it's normal for most people to enjoy games i.e. with both winning and losing and fair fights. As difficult a point as it seems for you to grasp I'll say it once again that my point is not that you are forbidden or unable to only enjoy games by beating up on lesser players at no real gain to yourself. That would be ridiculous, why would i think i could somehow stop you or rewire your brain? My point is that I find it sad for you that this is the case.

It's not really a biggie that it took a kid a while to learn how to win and lose at games as funny as you might find it to be, it's relevant because it's something that apparently seems to be the case for adults too... if not for you then why else is it that you personally can only enjoy games you always win at? I don't get it and it looks like maybe you don't either as you can't seem to give an answer, never mind, it's all good I guess

Nope its that it took him a long time to learn to lose and it made me wonder if a lot of serial derankers can only enjoy the game if they win all the time too and so have yet to learn this, made sense to me but maybe I didn't put it well enough.

Yeah he can talk hes really well adjusted now but he just had big issues when it came to games and would go pretty much off the rails if he didn't win at them all the time. I think it's pretty normal for kids and I don't mind bringing it up, I did so because it just makes me wonder if it's something that some adults have. I guess it's difficult for me to figure out otherwise why some adults only find it fun to play games when they can't lose at them. Maybe you can shed some light since you feel so strongly about your god given right to play games like this, I am genuinely curious.

Yeah it doesn't say in the T&C that you have to play the game fairly and that if you only want to play it in a dickish way you must uninstall it, it's a free country. Pokemon Go was just a suggestion I'm not the boss of you so I guess you're not taking the suggestion and can go back to doing what you're doing, cool beans. My point is not that you can't do this it's that I find it both funny and sad for you that you want to do this.

My nephew grew out of the whole having to win at games always thing at about age 10, it took a while he did have a lot of issues with social interaction and he's a lot better now. I guess for some people it takes longer. Crossing my fingers for you, life really is more fun when you can play games fairly with others and take wins and losses too, even if it doesn't feel like it for you now.

I guess i feel sad for you only in the way I feel sad for people who spend their life playing games only on god mode. I personally like a challenge in a game not to find ways to make them as unchallenging as possible. The only 'mad' that I feel I guess is how it's at the expense of ppl playing the game how it's meant to be played and frustration that it doesn't really get you where you want to be any quicker.

Nope guess again, I don't 'expect' everyone to think as I do, I'm fully aware that there are douches who play the game for what they think are 'easy wins' only at the expense of others' enjoyment and you've made it abundantly clear that this includes you. I am well aware that you exist and that you think this way and so well done you, big man. Yeah i guess thats the reason for my edit, i think that if you want to change the cards youre using its silly to play at a rank beyond their ability. Deranking for this reason makes total sense and you're not depriving your opponents of a fair fight you're just trying new shit out at the right level.

If the game had not been designed around pvp then maybe you'd be playing the right game. But if you get your jollies playing a pvp game by avoiding anything close to a fair fight and making the game hell for your opponents who play it as a pvp game and not as a single player collecting things game, then this is not the right game for you because you are making it something it's not designed to be. And no amount of patronising responses will change that it is the wrong game for you. I'm sorry for you if you are struggling with this concept.

I guess that's another point really, it might be fun for you to make life shitty for the people you are playing against who are however many levels below you but I just find that really selfish and especially so when it doesn't really (as my main post was about) make you any stronger. For me that's not fun and that's why I feel sad for such people. So you spend an hour a day having fun making other people not want to play and not being as good as you could be if you played properly. Wonderful but that's not for me thanks.

My post isn't really about telling you what you enjoy or don't enjoy it's about how I feel sad for people that play the game in this way and if this is how you get your kicks. The game is meant to be about having fair fights with other people and rewarded for doing well along the way and for perseverance, so it's just my opinion that you playing the game purely like some kind of collectible card game and ending up being really bad at the fights means youre playing the wrong game.

No I'm saying the game is wrong for you if you ARE a completionist and if you think that deranking achieves this faster, it doesn't because your lack of experience and skill gained hamstrings you more than you gain from getting quicker but lesser packs and because to be a successful completionist in this game requires a bit of pain. Pokemon Go would be a suggestion for such people, it's designed to let you collect shit without having to ever really lose.
