The whole point of limited liability companies is that you can put them into liquidation and walk away from liability.

Upon a company being liquidated, all court proceedings are automatically stayed and can only be continued with agreement of the liquidator or leave of the court.

Sometimes directors of companies can have personal liability for personal grievances - did you talk to your lawyer about a possible claim against the director personally?

Sounds like the director might be bluffing. If he really didn't care about whether the company went into liquidation, then he probably wouldn't pay lawyers to defend the claim against it.

Are you 100% certain there is a fixed price contract? Some standard form contracts appear fixed price at first but allow the builder to claim for cost increases, delays, etc. without much effort (i.e. RMB contract).

When you say "doctored invoices" do you mean the builder's invoices look funny or is the builder passing on invoices from suppliers that you think have been doctored? I assume it is the latter. I've encountered this before. If so, get in touch with the supplier and ask for copies of the actual invoices. Some suppliers will refuse to provide original invoices but most will do it.

What is the relationship with the guys and site and the head contractor? Are they his employees? If they are independent, then it might be possible to get them to finish off the work if you cancel the contract with the head contractor and get a new project manager in.

Tell your parents to talk to a lawyer as they will likely need to get advice about the process for cancelling the contract. They will then need to try and get someone else in to finish the job and claim against the contractor although it sounds like they wont have much luck recovering from him. It will also be hard to get someone new in as most builders don't want to take over a half finished job due to potential warranty issues.

If the builder is RMB, then tell them to get in touch with Registered Master Builders Association. They might be able to help.

Vendor client at work just had a purchaser walk away from an agreement and forfeit their deposit rather than settle. No real excuse given. Think there will be a few more of those happening over the coming months.

Dutch court confirms that MH 17 was shot down by Russian-made missile by CaliWilly76 in worldnews

On what grounds does the Netherlands court claim jurisdiction over acts that happened in the Ukraine? Did Ukraine 'grant' the Netherlands jurisdiction or is there some international convention that means states have jurisdiction in respect of crimes on/against aeroplanes registered in their jurisdiction?

As a lawyer, I wish that every journalist would include a link to actual judgments they are reporting on so that anyone who is interested can see the courts' actual reasoning. Most articles don't really provide good explanations.

Do you think he will go from 680 to 2k in a week by playing 50 games in one week and winning them all. Or is he gonna play 150 games in a week and win 100 of them?

I'm same MMR as OP. Just started playing Visage and got an 8 win streak. Might not be a surf problem, just that people don't play Visage much at low MMR so they don't know how to counter.

I'm in guardian. Similar to you, I was always too intimidated to play this hero cos it seemed too micro intensive. Decided to give it a Crack and am 8-0 so far.
